The Wireless Edge Network Support Team is dedicated to evolving Operations to meet the demands of running the Network of tomorrow. Read below on the functions a network engineer will perform.

  • Handle multiple wireless networks such as the MPLS core, EDN, Enterprise, WDN, WSN, IT, WVN, FES, SDN Spine/Leaf Fabrics, IEN, NEC IP environment network
  • Trouble Ticket management/escalations. Generate, drive, and update problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continually improve business practices.
  • Perform triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.
  • Work with external and internal Verizon organizations coordinating and troubleshooting network events.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, enhance automation through scripting and RPA (bots), and improve how the team functions for increased efficiency.
  • Providing timely and accurate network technical assistance to external teams by communicating technical details and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and executive management teams during network events and major outages.
  • Implement configuration changes/upgrades on multiple types of devices
  • Review and correct MOPs (method of procedure)

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate degree or two or more years of work experience
  • Three of more years of relevant work experience

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience coding network automation and/or remediation.
  • Experience Github with python coding.
  • Service provider experience.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and SDLC/DevOps concepts.
  • Cisco NP Certifications
  • Juniper NP Certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge with TCP/IP.
  • Python (or equivalent) scripting.
  • Experience driving automation initiatives and process improvements.
  • Three or more years of Network Operations work experience.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, F5, SRX) and processes and systems as well as department of company policies and procedures. Knowledge of routing protocols (MPLS, LDP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) and familiarity with concepts associated to cloud computing and virtualization.
  • Demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of specialized telecommunications equipment (Juniper MX series routers, Cisco CRS, Cisco Nexus, F5 firewalls) and technologies. Knowledge of optical DWDM system & optical distribution network.
