(Subject Matter Expert and 3rd tier support)

The PMTS will be responsible for acting as a subject matter expert who provides technical leadership with regard to the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF), Online Charging Systems (OCS), and Subscriber Database Management (SDM) / Home Subscriber Server (HSS) in the Maintenance Engineering organization.The support will be provided during planning, staging, first office application (FOA), commercial deployment, and continued maintenance to a variety of teams that include Area/Regional Operations, Network Implementation, Product Development, HQ/Area Network Planning, National Network Operations, Information Technology, Revenue Assurance, and other Maintenance Engineering groups in order to fulfill complex business requirements.

(Roadmap, Lab and FOA)

The PMTS will prime planning, design, equipment selection, staging, testing, and integration of new system hardware and software. The PMTS will work with the vendor to develop and implement product roadmaps, which improve the product performance, functionality and program profitability for Verizon Wireless. The PMTS will support Product Development teams in the submission of requests for new product functionality. The PMTS will actively manage VZW and vendor lab environments in which they will test and refine new hardware/software before approval for installation in the production environment. The PMTS will lead operational teams in the FOA process for the first installation of new hardware/software.

(Design consistency, standardization and reliability)

The PMTS will create and publish functional and technical requirements. The PMTS will analyze hardware/software design, features and enhancements in order to develop test plans, which effectively confirm the successful deployment and operation of the product. The PMTS will fully understand system architectures, system operations, end-to-end designs and device-system interactions in order to develop troubleshooting guides to be used by all other Network organizations.

(Outage management)

The PMTS will provide outage resolution oversight. The PMTS will act as an escalation/support contact to NRB, NOCC, customer service, national/regional operations,and performance teams when major outages occur. The PMTS will collect, identify and evaluate data relating to system problems that impact application performance and efficiency. The PMTS will analyze system failures and develop short- as well as long-term solutions to address each. The PMTS will be responsible for vendor escalation to ensure minimum outage duration. The PMTS will need to be able to work with multiple vendors across multiple platforms to achieve system stability.

(Administrative management)

The PMTS will provide administrative management of the monitored products. This management requires the PMTS to negotiate Service Level Agreements, Statements of Work and General Purchasing Agreements. The PMTS will review vendor performance regularly in order to ensure technical compliance with agreements. When necessary the PMTS will be involved in the collection of penalties from the vendor for non-compliance. The PMTS will be challenged to minimize the cost of all new capital purchases as well as actively reduce existing vendor expense costs "year over year".

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years experience in the wireless Industry
  • Two or more years experience with Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF), Online Charging Systems (OCS), or Subscriber Database Management (SDM) / Home Subscriber Server (HSS) applications.
  • Experience with SIP and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with IMS systems.
  • Experience with end-to-end call flows of 4G Networks.
  • Experience with UNIX/Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with Virtualized Network Function (VNF) and Software Defined Networks (SDN).
  • One or more years of vendor management experience.
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven project management, problem solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently on routine and non-routine research and reporting functions.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
