What you’ll be doing...

Exciting opportunities exist within the Verizon Global Presales Engineering organization. As a Principal Architect, you will be an integral part of a talented team collaborating with our clients’ on their Digital Transformation. The Custom Bid Support Team provides insight, guidance, and ownership for pre-sales activities including the end to end technical and service management solutions, transition and transformation strategies, and partner identification and selection for high complexity deals across all established Enterprise verticals and the Public Sector. The team will provide architectural ownership and solution management across all solution towers while focusing on innovative approaches to optimizing the pre-sales process and addressing critical business challenges. Principal Architects will solve customer business problems in the large global enterprise space, leveraging and customizing Verizon assists and capabilities to win the largest deals within Verizon Business Group.

You will seek to build deep, consultative technical relationships with your customers, effectively becoming a trusted adviser. A Principal Architect is ideally positioned to understand the customer's high-level objectives and match these to Verizon solutions in order to satisfy business and technical requirements.

  • Integral part of a team to identify and qualify business opportunities and develop the strategy to resolve technical matters.
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution using best practices.
  • Own the technical relationship with Verizon customers, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination of additional technical resources. Work directly with customers to create solutions and use cases that leverage Verizon product integrations that generate business value.
  • Articulate the Verizon Enterprise vision on technologies and solutions towards the Client; positions Verizon Enterprise as thought leader on key technological developments.
  • Lead prioritization of Customer solution / technical requirements and champions resolution of solution / product gaps internally (also towards Product Groups).
  • Develop individual skill set and expand product knowledge to maximize value and to deliver quality services to our clients. This includes attaining designated certification requirements and attending product-specific training, reviewing technical literature, and obtaining hands-on experience.
  • Lead optimization and automation of Deal Lifecycle Management and complex pre-sales processes to address inefficiencies and resolve challenges.
  • Help develop a knowledge base of technical responses to maximize response times and deliver consistent, quality solutions to our customers.

What we’re looking for...

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the tech industry with experience in pre-sales, customer-facing consulting or other relevant technical experience.
  • BA/BS degree, specialized or equivalent experience.
  • Strong professional communications abilities, both oral and written, with a strong ability to present solutions and value propositions.
  • Strong behavioral competencies around emotional intelligence, collaboration, active listening and conflict management.
  • Experience architecting and developing software or infrastructure for large, complex systems across multiple technologies.
  • Experience consulting customers in Digital Transformation efforts that involve significant organization, process, and technology change.
  • Experience architecting and developing LAN/WAN or large infrastructure and network solutions for enterprise customers.
  • Experience with networking concepts including: software defined networking, routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls. (Can be customized by technology and experience)
  • Experience in and understanding of data and information security - especially as it relates to issues within businesses.
  • Experience around wireless technologies (4G/5G/WiFi) and IoT platforms.
  • Experience with ITSM and managed service models.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space (DevOps, Network Function Virtualization, AI/Machine Learning/Natural Language Processing, etc.)
  • Gathered industry knowledge and experience in two or more of the following areas: Software Defined Networking (SDN), IT infrastructure and systems security, cloud or network systems management, and business continuity.

Even better if you have...

  • MA/MS degree in engineering or computer science.
  • Run multiple projects or deals under tight timelines.
  • Security, architecture, and industry certifications such as AWS Solution Architect, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Design or Network Associate, ITIL Foundations, or similar.
  • Hands on experience. It could be implementing or designing two or more of the following: Data and IP Services Managed Operations; Security Services; Call Center Technologies and or IT Applications Management
