What you’ll be doing...

Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships across the enterprise to achieve best total value. Includes category management strategies and execution, supplier relationship management, negotiation, risk management and supply base performance management. Successful candidate will be required to have the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to design and execute strategies in a global environment.

  • Responsible for leading global cross functional teams in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies in particular the Cloud Infrastructure environment.
  • Responsible for insuring that category strategy’s result in and generate roadmaps of savings and value streams, and where appropriate, innovation opportunities.
  • Continual monitoring of internal customers and supply markets for changes that may impact the sourcing strategy.
  • Year-on-year financial accountability for assigned category’s with respect to price movement.
  • Responsible for leading global cross functional teams through the supplier selection process and for the approval of selected suppliers by stakeholders. The team-based supplier selection process is inclusive of identification of potential suppliers, RFX development and execution, proposal evaluation against business requirements and total cost of ownership, and supplier selection recommendation. Upon stakeholder approval and completion of successful negotiation and contracting.
  • Responsible for negotiation planning and contracting with suppliers, ensuring that agreements reflect Verizon’s needs globally.
  • Responsible for executing supplier relationship management activities for key assigned suppliers within the assigned category’s, with oversight regarding supplier relationship management.
  • The Category Sourcing Expert will also be expected to take on additional projects as needed to support business requirements.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience including IT category management.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Project Management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP & Microsoft Suite applications (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
  • Strong contract negotiation skills and cost management practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
