What you’ll be doing...

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will:

  • Build automation/infrastructure as code to enforce cloud infrastructure security
  • Operationalize tools to strengthen cloud security posture – e.g. Cloud Infrastructure scan tools, Firewall scan, network scan, host scan tools, vulnerability management tools etc.
  • Constantly learn about emerging threats and work towards increasing security posture by bringing new tools/automation etc.
  • Roll out security infrastructure such as central logging, IAM Roles, SIEM tools etc.
  • Manage/create Cloud accounts for both AWS commercial and .Gov cloud as defined by Verizon policy and keep in compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day security operational tasks such as security event monitoring, log monitoring and security incident management, compliance monitoring, data loss prevention, and monitoring and responding to emerging threats varying from endpoint to server to public cloud system.
  • Perform ongoing vulnerability assessments including vulnerability scanning and vulnerability exploit testing (penetration testing) with clear reporting, threat identification and action plans for remediation with prioritization. This will also include any assessments for changes that the security team has identified as requiring a vulnerability assessment prior to release
  • Build CJIS/NIST compliance cloud infrastructure, policy and procedures for both AWS public and .Gov cloud.
  • Drive shared responsibility model to roll out security compliance infrastcture working with various sub-group.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of Cloud security awareness training for the enterprise.
  • You will be part of Incident Response team and participate in activities related to an incident – remediation, forensic, providing data points to broader Verizon team etc.
  • Instrument metrics to allow long term monitoring and management of security and related KPIs and present to the executive team.
  • Work with Verizon Cloud Architecture team to bring back security best practices as well as drive VSC use cases with Verizon Cloud Architecture team
  • Assist Production engineering/SRE team to make sure production remains secure all the time.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent degree) with 6+ years hands-on security experience. Security certifications a plus.
  • 3 years of experience in either Shell Scripting language, Python
  • 3 years of experience in distributed systems and cloud environments, cloud security
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux administration and its internals
  • Background in security engineering and security operations.
  • Strong experience with SIEM tools like Splunk or ELK and AWS Advanced Security tools Evident.io,Red Lock or Secure works.
  • Strong security research and root cause analysis skills to identify and analyze potential security vulnerabilities
  • Experience with AWS Services IAM, EC2 and it is plus to have AWS GuardDuty, AWS config, AWS System Manager, AWS Secret Manager, AWS Lamda experience.
  • Experience with compliance ( CJIS, NIST)
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors on compliance initiatives
  • Experience with Identity and Access concepts and technologies to secure production and corporate access, such as: SSO, SAML Federated Identity, RBAC, authentication & authorization solution etc
  • Experience managing vulnerability scanning tools (Qualys, Rapid7, Nessus, etc)
  • Technical knowledge in system and network security, authentication and security protocols, and application security
  • Intermediate Windows and Mac skills to assess endpoint incidents
  • Superior communication skills, written using MS Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
