What you’ll be doing...

Our customers want to deliver content like web pages, broadcast video, online commerce, games and live events in ways that are faster, more reliable and secure. That’s where you come in. The specialist position is responsible for the maintaining and operation of applications within Verizon Video Network. This position will be responsible for the System Administration for all upstream and downstream network elements. The specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise on system maintenance, configuration, repair, and installation standards for all video data and video equipment. The specialist will lead and assist with training initiatives as well as process development/improvement for the national operation.

When required the individual will provide expert level support for system outages, lead trouble bridges, engage vendors and produce “root cause analysis” documentation. Your success will get things back on track and help change the way that our customers live, work, and play.

  • Responsible the implementation of feature designs and will provide feedback and engineering solutions to improve reliability and performance
  • Partner with all key stakeholders to ensure new features and\or fixes are swiftly rolled out with no negative impact to customers or system performance
  • Responsible for benchmarking the system and ensure all reliability and performance metrics are met
  • This position will require independent thinking and a creative mindset with the ability to leverage automation to eliminate manual processes and provide near real-time visibility into system health and performance
  • Able to identify deficiencies and quickly develop a solution in a DevOps manner to help improve the reliability and add operational efficiencies in the network
  • Actively participate in meetings with key stakeholders regarding the roadmap planning and performance testing
  • Mentor tier 1 members on video network system, and troubleshooting
  • Provide concise weekly updates to management and effectively present project status to leadership
  • Willing to work in 24x7 escalation and support duties including holidays and weekends

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience managing/administer: Networks, Video Architecture, Conditional Access Systems, Ad Insertion systems, Windows & Linux Servers
  • Experience with enterprise/network/video architecture monitoring tools or applications
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Motorola networks
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layers
  • Ability to maintain configuration of devices in a network management monitoring system
  • Knowledge of services, network devices, knowledge base solutions, and system monitoring tools
  • Proven customer communication and interaction skills
  • Ability to work different shifts

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications.
  • Openstack certified.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Ruby).
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with Linux systems in an enterprise production environment.
  • Experience with SDN/NFV.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, load balancing, firewalls, HTTP, SSL, DNS, DHCP.
  • Proven ability to manage/administer: Networks, Video Architecture, Windows Servers
  • Experience with enterprise/network/video architecture monitoring tools or applications
  • Experience with conditional access systems and digital rights management
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arris networks
  • 1+ years related cable, satellite, and telephony transport industries knowledge
  • 1+ years of experience with analog/digital video, audio and multi-channel experience
