What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a talented and motivated Data Center Analyst with a good understanding of switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers, systems administration, scripting, automation tools, and related technologies. Someone who thrives on new challenges and enjoy solving the problems associated with building a complex system in a network data center. The Network Intelligence infrastructure consists of several large scale networking, compute, and storage clusters that are used to analyze petabyte scale network and security event data sets for anomalous and malicious network activity to protect Verizon and its customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will have responsibility for a number of the following areas based on the unique expertise that they bring to the project.

  • Engineer and deploy appropriate network solutions for data center networks
  • Identify technology gaps to lead in the design, architecture, and implementation of appropriate solutions collaboratively
  • Create formal guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure smooth and error-free operations
  • Drive relevant, strategic solutions in a highly scalable environment
  • Maintain high availability & performance of the data center networks, support infrastructure, and environment using various monitoring tools
  • Participate in capacity planning activities and identify areas for improvements in managing network resource and inventory

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A Degree.
  • Knowledge of data center fiber infrastructure.
  • Experience in data center rack management (rack and stack, cable management).
  • Knowledge in Industrial Control Systems in a data center environment.
  • Knowledge with Linux or other Unix-like systems.
  • Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to hardware, L3/L2 deployment, application behaviors and TCP stack.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Network Engineers, Systems software developers and Administrators.
  • Knowledge of routing and switching concepts and technologies (OSPF, BGP, PIM, MC-LAG).
  • Knowledge in IOS, JunOS and hardware.
  • Experience with Scripting/coding capabilities to automate repetitive tasks or to better handle large scale administration functions.
