What you’ll be doing...

The Principal Consultant – Project Lead Structured Cabling position represents the most senior level of Professional Services engineers. The incumbent demonstrates business acumen necessary to effectively engage at the CxO or senior executive level. Will also communicate technical considerations and the impact of custom solutions to clients’ identified business problems to key stakeholders and decision-makers across the top strata of the strategic client base.

The Principal Consultant is the overall technical lead for the planning, design, and implementation of custom Verizon projects.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Pre-sales support, network design, costing, material sourcing, sub-contractor selection, implementation and project management for communications infrastructure projects.
  • Works with external third party vendors in implementing the scope of work within customer’s premises ensuring implementation is executed, satisfying all industry standards, contracting agreements and Performance Bonds while maintaining schedule and budget constraints.
  • Knowledge of wiring industry standards; design topologies and construction of cabling infrastructure in ISP, OSP, Campus and commercial office settings including. BISCI, EIA/TIA 568-B standards as well as NFPA and NEC code requirements.
  • Knowledge of related construction disciplines (HVAC, Electrical, UPS, Hazardous Waste removal) and ancillary services (Switching, WiFi, Paging, and Surveillance) is required.
  • Resolves project conflicts for the customer, Verizon, and subcontractors.
  • Will manage VZ compliance with national, state and local licenses relevant to structured cabling, electrical, HVAC, pathways, and control wiring regulations and codes.
  • You will develop and administer budgets, bid margins, schedules and performance standards for each project.
  • Will have sole responsibility to select and procure materials that may require for structured cabling solutions and purchased by Verizon and or subcontractors. Approve all supplier invoices and payments.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in communications infrastructure (NTS, ISP and OSP) pre-sales, design, customer service, third-party vendor management and budget management.
  • A BICSI Certification in Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD).
  • Experience in Visio, Excel, Word, Project & AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Valid driver's license

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Ten+ years of experience in communications infrastructure (NTS, ISP or OSP) pre-sales, design, customer service, third-party vendor management, and budget management.
  • Outside Plant Specialist (OSP) or Network Transport Specialist (NTS) experience.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Project management techniques including project planning and coordination, scheduling like Gantt charts.
  • Experience managing and handling the management and accountability of national, state and local licenses to ensure VZ complies with relevant Structured Cabling Low Voltage, Electrical, HVAC, Pathways, and control wiring regulations and codes.
