What you’ll be doing...

We need to keep our reliable network thriving to be able to provide our customers with ground breaking technology. You will be a key member of the Maintenance Engineering team, leading the evolution effort of our network towards new VOLTE initiatives. Leading the engineering effort of IMS voice-core infrastructure and application platforms, as well as working on new virtualized network-in-a-box initiatives will be key aspects of the role. You’ll focus on network maintenance, leading network support for operations and engineering, and providing technical leadership and expert consultation for Open Stack, IMS, VOLTE applications, and associated tools related to cloud computing. As a subject matter expert, you will also provide technical leadership and provide direction to vendors and internal organizations.

  • Make recommendations based on internal and external trends and data-driven insights.
  • Actively leading in planning, designing, equipment selection, staging, testing, and integration of new system hardware, software, and virtualized functions of the cloud.
  • Develop integration plans for successful deployment and operation of VOLTE applications.
  • Interpret industry standards to ensure the integrity of our platform engineering designs and vetting all methods of procedures (MOPs) to ensure technical standards are met.
  • Collaborate with various HQ departments in technology trials, interoperability tests, and run first office applications.
  • Participating in vendor evaluations, and performing evaluations and quality control analysis.
  • Overseeing multiple large-scale, complex platforms and providing third-tier support functions.
  • Actively provide daily direction to vendor engineers for analysis and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Lead technical and non-technical troubleshooting discussions and escalations to resolve customer-impacting issues.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a subject matter expert in wireless network infrastructure and thrive on learning and developing new approaches to make systems more reliable. You have exceptional interpersonal and negotiating skills and are a skilled communicator, both orally and in writing. As a self-starter, you work well independently, completing projects with minimal oversight. Working in a team environment is also personally rewarding – you enjoy the opportunity to motivate and inspire your colleagues to achieve great results. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you are well organized and juggle competing priorities with ease, never missing a deadline. You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Planning, architecture, product development, or program management experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • A degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with OpenStack services (Horizon, Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Ceilometer, Glance, Heat, Cinder/Swift, or Ceph).
  • Experience with Python, Bash, JSON, YAML, REST, or Ansible.
  • Operational experience in creating test environments for IMS and EPC functions.
  • Experience with QCOW2 or RAW images.
  • Experience providing daily direction to vendor engineers for analysis and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Experience with IMS and/or VoLTE.
  • Experience with EPC functions.
  • Strong Project/vendor management experience.
  • Experience with network automation and deployment methods, managing data center elements, hardware, software, and power requirements, and overseeing vendors.
