What you’ll be doing...

The Priority Services Engineering team at Verizon is tasked with providing priority telecommunications services to critical government agencies. These services help enable the important mission of the agencies we serve and is critical to public safety and emergency communication services. We ensure the integrity and availability of their telecommunications services and are tasked with the architecture, engineering, and security of these services. Services include both wireline and wireless services. Your role as a Security Analyst on this team will be to analyze the systems, network, and services to assess their security, and recommend remediation strategies to address gaps in security. This is not a hands-on technical engineering position.

TheSecurity Analyst will be responsible for analyzing security capabilities and gaps and recommending a course of action, addressing business needs with proper security measures. The Security Analyst will review and analyze vulnerability and penetration reports, identify items for remediation, and help create remediation plans. In this effort you will collaborate across various Verizon and third party teams to identify technology SMEs that can lend insight and technical advice on solutions. As a Security Analyst you will have a broad knowledge of networking and telecommunications services focused on IP and VoIP security.


  • Analyze vulnerability and penetration testing reports on cellular and VoIP networks and make recommendations on remediation strategies.
  • Document and analyze security architecture for voice, data, and video services, and ensures security systems support for specific customer requirements across different manufacturers, service providers and users.
  • Prepares and interprets security specifications and assess regulatory impact for Priority Services.
  • Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.
  • Identify security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Work closely with Product Development, Engineering, IT, Delivery, Support and third party vendors to deliver timely solutions.
  • Manages project proposals to define goals, identify scope, and ascertain cost of equipment, parts and services.
  • Evaluates new products and services ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures in the provision of Priority Services.
  • Monitors Priority Services to assess need for security updates, upgrades, enhancements, preventive maintenance and new systems.
  • Assesses performance levels of system hardware and software to project future needs, and developing short- and long-terms plans for updating equipment, adding capabilities, enhancing existing systems.
  • Determines integrated hardware and software architecture solutions that meet performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
  • Develop comprehensive solutions using security and application services. High level responsibilities include leading the design and integration of security solutions, architecture roadmap development, and deployment of solutions.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce appropriate industry standards in the creation and implementation of security solutions.
  • Lead technical engagements with customer, vendors and internal technology teams to promote the use of and specific technologies in order to build new opportunities and business relationships.
  • Mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes.
  • Define Priority Services security architectural roadmap for business need.
  • Maintain a baseline of industry knowledge to advice on technical trends and techniques for the development of solution designs.
  • Support standard and custom product development initiatives for security solutions
  • Develop and interpret security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in security compliance efforts.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and perform general security awareness and specific security technology training.
  • Perform acquisition and vendor risk assessment due diligence.
  • Evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies.
  • Participate in incident handling.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of work experience as a security analyst
  • Four or more years of experience analyzing networks for vulnerabilities and recommending remediation actions.
  • Four or more years of experience with TCP/IP
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a government issued security clearance at the Secret level or an active security clearance
  • Willingness to travel

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Network Security certifications (CISSP, C|EH, Security+, SANS, ISACA, Vendor Certificates).
  • Experience with SS7 and SIP protocols.
  • Experience with NIST 800-58.
  • Project Management training/certification.
  • Quality Management (ITIL, Six Sigma, TQM, etc.) training/certification.
  • Ability to manage complex projects to deliver customer commitments.
  • Ability to gather, document, and present specific customer requirements and articulate technical designs and solutions.
  • Ability to analyze network design documents and influence standards design.
  • Exceptional documentation skills that clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and network assessments.
  • Strong analytical and problem determination/resolution skills.
  • Strong industry experience and deep professional/technical knowledge.
  • Ability to be a technical leader and recognized expert on select technologies/systems/procedures.
  • Ability to develop new concepts/methods/techniques for cross functional initiatives.
  • Self-directed to complete tasks in professional and timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects utilizing project management processes.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to promote active listening and open communication.
