This Senior Principal Security Engineer role lies within the Verizon Ireland Operations Centre. Reporting to the IAM Regional Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the operation of a suite of Identity and Access Management (IAM) services. The primary focus will be on leading and driving a technical team in day-to-day activities, holding an SME position in IoT/PKI for our Sales/Pre-Sales and development, working with Product Management, and ensuring the operational continuity of our largest Enterprise client services, both regionally and globally. Responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Providing expert and creative solutions for problems reported on Verizon Security Products to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction and productivity.
  • Managing escalations with priority, taking all necessary and appropriate actions to ensure a timely and smooth engagement with the client and management alike.
  • Taking a lead role in directing, participating, or owning problems to resolution.
  • Where escalation to engineering is required, providing detailed diagnostic information including problem origination theories, environment configuration, debugging output, and relevant logs and traces.
  • Ensuring regular feedback is provided on problem status to customers, management, development, and product management staff.
  • Managing and coordinating problem fixes/patches between development, internal teams, and customers.
  • Collaborating with team members globally and providing guidance, direction, solutions, and recommendations as and when needed.
  • Coordinating with development and Product Management in meetings to ensure appropriate focus and priority is placed on clients’ needs/demands.
  • Engaging with global teams on technical issues and providing recommendations and solutions.
  • Participating in vendor integration projects, vendor meetings, technical review engagements, and other related areas in scope with Verizon IAM technologies.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • Experience with operating systems, especially MS Windows, CentOS/RHEL Linux.

Even better if you have:

  • A technical degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of IT security concepts and digital certificates.
  • At least four to five years in an appropriate senior technical role.
  • Experience as a senior-level application engineer with excellent diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to solve complex problems creatively.
  • A DBA insofar as managing and understanding databases (e.g., triggers, synonyms) and using Toad or other appropriate DB tools.
  • An understanding of and experience with IP v4/v6/Neetworking.
  • An understanding of Priority vs. Criticality.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, both to peers and customer alike.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment independently.
  • The ability to work well on a team, provide solutions, implement pre/production deployments, and participation in issue resolution.
  • The ability to lead, guide, direct, and ensure that all technical matters and escalations are managed effectively.
  • A focused delivery within a high degree of customer satisfaction, technical expertise, business acumen, and timeliness.
  • An understanding of cryptography, Public Key Infrastructure, LDAP/AD, OCSP, HSM, IoT, OTP, and Cloud.
  • An understanding of and experience in Java development.
