What you’ll be doing...

The DevOps Platform Engineering team is looking for a highly technical Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help scale, automate and monitor the growing DevOps and cloud infrastructure at Verizon.  This role will play a key role in leading all AWS infrastructure implementations, shaping the architecture of the DevOps platforms and helping application teams to adopt nextGen AWS Cloud Platform. We aim to have a fast, agile and automated DevOps philosophy that will provide a world-class experience to our users with minimal or zero downtime.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement pipelines to automate deployment, scaling, blue-green deployments with CloudFormation, Ansible, and Jenkins.
  • Implement high availability (HA) AWS infrastructures that support Active - Passive multi-region failovers.
  • Diagnose complex issues affecting performance and scaling.
  • Build monitoring solutions and set up alerts for various services.
  • Optimize AWS infrastructure cost.
  • Single point of contact for site reliability and uptime maintenance.
  • Lead all AWS initiatives and own all AWS infrastructures.
  • Deploy gitlab continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines on Kubernetes cluster.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • PaaS or SaaS Certification, AWS CSA Preferred.
  • Ten or more years of infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Experience developing Ansible playbooks and Jenkins orchestrations.
  • Eight or more years of experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, Aurora, S3, Cloudformation, and Auto Scaling).
  • Experience automating repetitive operational tasks using Python and/or shell.
  • Knowledge of Agile & DevOps, Cloud Security & Cloud Integration.
  • Experience in Load Balancer, networking, routing, Active Directory object, and LDAP.
  • Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage architectures.
  • Experience with deploying and maintaining high traffic infrastructure (performance testing is a plus).
  • Knowledge of Linux administration, Linux containers and deployment methodologies (blue-green methodologies).
  • Experience planning, designing, and architecting platforms and software related to cloud, including project management and strategic planning.
  • Experience designing service management, orchestration, monitoring and management requirements of cloud platform.
  • Experience designing, building, and delivering scalable software applications.
