What you’ll be doing...

In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and administer database systems, including documentation, requirements, operational guidelines and protection. You’ll also perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality.
  • Work with internal and external customers to develop new value-added programs and data solutions.
  • Act as a liaison with customers and test designed applications.
  • Analyze and determine information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow, storage requirements, data output, and reporting capabilities.
  • Research and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues.
  • Create ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with SQL Server versions 2017, 2016, 2014, 2012, 2008.
  • Experience (across versions) with:
    • installation, upgrade, and patching
    • database backup and recovery, disaster recovery
    • SQL Server Clustering and Windows Clustering
    • SQL Server Always-On HA Group Replication
    • SQL Server Replication – mirroring, log shipping, transactional replication, merge replication and snapshot replication
    • troubleshooting
    • database performance tuning
    • database monitoring and associated tools
    • requirements gathering, design and implementation of new databases

Even better if you have:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with installation, upgrade, patching database backup and recovery, as well as disaster recovery.
  • Experience performing SQL Server clustering and Windows clustering, SQL Server always-on HA group replication, SQL Server replication including: mirroring, log shipping, transactional replication, merge replication, and snapshot replication.
  • Experience with T-SQL; scripting for Windows and SQL; stored procedures, functions, and triggers; and SQL performance tuning.
  • Working knowledge of Spotlight.
  • Working knowledge of MySQL.
  • Willingness to learn and use new database technologies.
  • Knowledge of SAN technologies.
  • Ability to be a solid team player – but can work alone as well as with others interchangeably.
  • Capability to mentor and assist team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with customers and management.
