What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial, highly motivated, Data Science Developer to work in a product development team for developing security products in Technology and Product Development organization. You will help design and develop software products and solutions to help deliver state of the art next generation security products in the cloud. Products include Autonomous Threat Detection, Managed Detect and Respond, and advanced Analytics products. You will be part of a highly collaborative fast paced Agile development environment. You will be require strategic thinking with a proven track record of delivering results and the ability to work cross functionally across product and development organization.

  • Designing and developing security incident detection and incident response algorithms for various enterprise security products.
  • Leveraging supervised and unsupervised machine learning models.
  • Leveraging R, Python, and Scala programming languages to build models and solutions in a cloud environment using predictive modeling and machine learning to increase cyber security threat detection capabilities.
  • Collaborating with product managers and strategy teams to architect and design solution implementations

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in data science, computer science, or a related statistics oriented field or a cyber security related.
  • Six or more years of experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, AWS Aurora, RDBMS etc.
  • Five or more years of experience with data science related development, using two or more of the following languages: Prototype building in Jupyter Notebook, R development with data.table and tidyverse, Python scikit and pandas, and/or Scala MLLib.
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques using GLM/Regression, Random Forest, SVM, NN, Boosting Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  • Knowledge of NLP, anomaly detection and scoring techniques.
  • Experience in security related data science projects and initiatives.
  • Experience in working in detection / incident response and writing detection rules / heuristics using network and endpoint logs (SIEM / SOC).
  • Experience with analyzing vulnerability scans and internet scan data for insights.
  • Experience on Threat Intelligence analysis and Pivoting (and related tool building / scripting).
  • Experience on Incident investigation and post-mortem (and related tool building / scripting).
  • Malware Sandbox Configuration and Malware reversing experience (and related tool building / scripting).
