What you’ll be doing...

Join our Application Security team where you will lead all Web Application Firewall activities. You’ll advise other team members to provide guidance on complex issues, and you’ll work with Verizon Digital Media Group Operations personnel on application troubleshooting and maintenance, version upgrades, and enhancements.

  • Planning and leading new wireless application traffic on-boarding and verification, all capacity planning and hardware expansion projects.
  • Working with vendors on contract renewals and work with vendor consumer advisory board reviews and provide SME inputs when applicable.
  • Developing comprehensive and accurate alerts and reports to meet the requirements of key stakeholders.
  • Creating presentations for both technical and executive audiences highlighting internal and external attacks and their disposition using a variety of computer systems including SIEM, fraud tools and web application firewalls.
  • Identifying and documenting security gaps or vulnerabilities in applications, and processes.
  • Advising relevant stakeholders on the appropriate course of action to strengthen Verizon’s application security posture.
  • Developing scripts, tools and methodologies to enhance Verizon’s Web Application Firewall processes.
  • Working extensively with various stakeholders across Verizon to tune WAF policies and create custom signatures.
  • Mentoring junior members of the team and creating training to enhance the skill levels of all team members.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Security Web Application Firewall.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with EdgeCast, F5 ASM or Imperva.
  • Experience with Python, Perl and Shell scripting languages.
  • Experience developing in C++, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with regular expressions.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, web protocols and networking concepts.
  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing log files and data correlation.
  • Strong knowledge of SSDLC.
  • Experience with managing Web/Application Servers.
  • Experience with Java and/or .NET technologies.
  • Knowledge of PKI Technology.
  • Knowledge of web applications, web servers, application firewalls, frameworks and protocols with respect to web application development, deployment, and operation.
  • Strong knowledge of open source and commercial application security tools and frameworks, including but not limited to Kali Web application testing tools.
  • Experience in exploiting web apps and web services security vulnerabilities including cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery, SQL injection, DoS attacks, XML/SOAP, and API attacks.
  • Strong knowledge of OWASP Risks, Vulnerabilities and Mitigation Mechanisms.
  • Extensive experience in system exploits (e.g. Buffer Overflows, PTH attacks, windows authentication framework etc.).
