What you’ll be doing...

This position is for the Wireless Edge Network Support team (Former DSO Tier 3). You will be on a high visibility team that is responsible for correcting and preventing network outages. Work ranges from short term break/fix outages to longer term projects to improve network resiliency.

  • Leading the network into automation using python scripting and network management/orchestration tools.
  • Building methods for detecting network impairment and potential outages before they impact customers.
  • Troubleshooting network issues, including app issues.
  • Building and using network troubleshooting tools to isolate network issues across a large multi-site network.
  • Leading complex projects across multiple work groups to improve network reliability.
  • Partnering with network design teams to update the design based on flaws, bugs or improving network performance.
  • Presenting outage data to groups and proposing actions that will prevent future outages.
  • Handling vendor management and accountability.
  • Resolving service disruptions, performing preventative maintenance and improving Mean Time to Repair.
  • Leading large outage calls with multiple invested parties.
  • Developing and presenting RCA documentation for network outages.
  • Managing eNSE, MEC, MSE, OTNGN, EDN, Enterprise, WDN, WSN, IT, WVN, FES, SDN /Spine/Leaf Fabric, Common Core, Intelligent Edge, and NEC IP environment network operations and support.
  • Managing small to large outages and articulating complex network outages into resolution.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Python scripting and coding experience, including object oriented programming.
  • Experience with routers, Ethernet switches, Firewalls, load balancers, and transport equipment.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, F5, Ciena devices.
  • Willingness to work an occasional off shift and an on call rotation.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Strong technical understanding of VZW data network topology and/or Wireline Global IP network.
  • Knowledge of MPLS, SDN, and Spine/Leaf.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with high visibility.
  • Ability to triage and prioritize network outages.
  • Strong technical analytical skills.
  • Experience coding network automation and/or remediation.
  • Experience with Github with python coding examples.
  • Expert level networking certifications or experience.
  • Service provider experience.
  • Strong understanding of continuous integration and SDLC/DevOps concepts.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
