What you’ll be doing...

As an Emerging Technologies Engineer, you will provide pre-sales and post-sales technical direction and guidance to new and existing IoT customers utilizing ThingSpace and device-side embedded software, application software, web services, cloud computing, and other services. The Emerging Technologies Engineer is capable of developing and delivering executive-level presentations pertaining to IoT topics including industry and vertical direction as well as overall Verizon IoT strategy.

  • Collaborating with internal and external customers by providing customer needs analysis, business model analysis, engineering and design of technical solutions, technical presentations, and technical consultation.
  • Providing technical support and guidance for the development and implementation of IoT customer solutions and applications including device/module recommendation, innovation center product development, product certification, application hosting, and system integration guidance.
  • Providing messaging and training to internal sales and technical sales teams with regards to key M2M topics (e.g., platform, roadmap, partner solutions, best practices).
  • Evaluating and recommending new software features for Verizon ThingSpace platform services to drive Verizon IoT capabilities, competitive position, and revenue growth.
  • Driving implementation and end-to-end support for business partners and enterprise customers.
  • Providing support, developing content, and acting as presenter for executive-level briefings held at various Verizon briefing centers as well as customer locations.
  • Delivering executive-level content regarding IoT-centric topics.
  • Attaining and maintaining appropriate industry knowledge on relevant topics: Wireless and terrestrial networking, Web Services development, ThingSpace Develop, and IoT Security.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Seven or more years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition and development of IT, IP, and software-based products and services with verifiable instances of implementing.
  • Experience with IT Applications Management (SOA, Web Services, RTE).
  • Experience with Data and IP Services (ATM, Frame Relay, PIP, VPN).
  • Experience managing Network Services (LAN, WAN, Content Delivery, and Managed IP PBX).
  • Experience managing Security Solutions.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Information Systems or Engineering.
  • Seven or more years in customer-facing positions (sales, sales engineering, consulting).
  • Developed business cases with forecasting, pricing and margin analyses.
  • Working knowledge of Verizon processes and services including DMD, VIP, VHAP, and ACSS.
  • Knowledge of network, communications and wireless protocols.
  • Knowledge of switching, routing, server, and mobility equipment.
  • Knowledge of IoT device OEMs and their products and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of storage networking/cloud computing
  • Ability to stay up to date of IoT wireless trends and forthcoming technology.
  • Ability to translate technology trends to salesforce and customer base.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team environment and explain complex systems to customers.
