What you’ll be doing...

The PMTS will be responsible for acting as a subject matter expert who provides technical leadership with regard to the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and Online Charging Systems (OCS) in the Maintenance Engineering organization. The support will be provided during planning, staging, first office application (FOA), commercial deployment, and continued maintenance to a variety of teams that include Area/Regional Operations, Network Implementation, Product Development, HQ/Area Network Planning, National Network Operations, Information Technology, Revenue Assurance, and other Maintenance Engineering groups in order to fulfill complex business requirements.

  • Conducting the planning, design, equipment selection, staging, testing, and integration of new system hardware and software.
  • Working with the vendor to develop and implement product roadmaps, which improve the product performance, functionality and program profitability for Verizon Wireless.
  • Supporting Product Development teams in the submission of requests for new product functionality.
  • Managing Verizon Wireless and vendor lab environments to test and refine new hardware/software before approval for installation in the production environment.
  • Leading operational teams in the FOA process for the first installation of new hardware/software.
  • Creating and publishing functional and technical requirements.
  • Analyzing hardware/software design, features and enhancements in order to develop test plans, which effectively confirm the successful deployment and operation of the product.
  • Providing outage resolution oversight.
  • Acting as an escalation/support contact to NRB, NOCC, customer service, national/regional operations, and performance teams when major outages occur.
  • Collecting, identifying and evaluating data relating to system problems that affect application performance and efficiency.
  • Analyzing system failures and developing short- as well as long-term solutions to address each.
  • Conducting vendor escalation to ensure minimum outage duration.
  • Providing administrative management of the monitored products.
  • Negotiating Service Level Agreements, Statements of Work and General Purchasing Agreements.
  • Reviewing vendor performance regularly in order to ensure technical compliance with agreements.
  • Collecting penalties from the vendor for non-compliance.
  • Minimizing the cost of all new capital purchases as well as actively reducing existing vendor expense costs "year over year".

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of experience in the wireless Industry
  • Two or more years of experience with Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) or Online Charging Systems (OCS) applications.
  • Experience with SIP and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with IMS systems.
  • Experience with end-to-end call flows of 4G Networks.
  • Knowledge of 5G Core call flows.
  • Experience with UNIX/Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with Virtualized Network Function (VNF) and Software Defined Networks (SDN).
  • One or more years of vendor management experience.
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Project management skills.
