As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation through building a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.
You will support the engineering, operations, and maintenance of the Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP) Edge platform deployed in 52 regional sites and two centralized data centers. VCP Edge is an OpenStack-based hardware and software platform designed to support the deployment of virtualized applications into regional VZW sites and is the directional cloud platform supporting Verizon applications located in the Markets.
- Deploying, upgrading, and supporting the VCP Edge platform using CI/CD, Ansible scripts, or Heat templates.
- Identifying automation opportunities for OpenStack and tenant operational and management tasks.
- Leveraging industry best practices to improve deployment processes.
- Isolating problems and resolving customer-impacting issues through engaging with stakeholders (vendors, VNF owners, and other network personnel).
- Monitoring platform efficiencies, for maintaining accurate and up-to-date performance metrics, logging, and alarming as well as focusing on operational discipline and security best practices.
- Supporting maintenance window activities during planned and unplanned changes.
- Providing level III support to assist in resolving complex network issues.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Three or more years of telecommunications and/or Information Systems experience.
- Three or more years of UNIX/Linux experience.
Even better if you have:
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux system administration and architecture or RHCSA/RHCSE.
- OpenStack administration or certification (COA).
- CCNA/CCNP certified or equivalent training/experience.
- Experience in reading and writing Shell, Python, or other variations of scripting.
- Understanding of configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Salt.
- Knowledge of file and block IP-based storage networking standards, including iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS.
- Knowledgeable in highly-available geo-redundant solutions.
- Common Carrier and Enterprise-grade hardware such as HP, EMC, NetApp, etc.
- Experience in utilizing monitoring tools such as Netscout, Sev One, etc.
- Experience with network tools and packet capture such as Irisview, Netscout, Wireshark, etc.
- Experience with Common Network Services such as DNS, LDAP, NFS, SSH, etc.).
- Experience with DBMS (Database systems).
- Experience with network security policies in an OpenStack-based environment.
- Experience with Firewalls and Load Balancers.
- Experience with LTE/IMS Call Flows.
- Willingness to travel.
