What you’ll be doing...

As the the Verizon Business Group’s (VBG) Director of Business Devices Planning and Partnership Management, you will be responsible for planning a robust portfolio of business specific devices, manage partnerships with the device vendor ecosystem, and enabling sales channels for these devices. Business specific devices will include smartphones/tablets/compute devices unique to business customers, customer premises equipment (CPE)/routers for fixed wireless and WiFi deployments for businesses, and endpoints for 5G/multi-access edge computing (MEC) use cases.

In addition, you will also be responsible for closely working with the device team in the Verizon Consumer Group (VCG) to ensure alignment of core device portfolio, launches, and go-to-market messaging for Verizon’s business customers.

Business-Specific Device Planning:

  • Establish a 12 to 18 month device strategy and roadmap for both direct and indirect fulfillment channels

  • Drive business product requirements into device portfolio

  • Range devices for Verizon direct channel and conduct end of life planning

  • Competitive benchmarking of device specs and performance

  • Responsible for cost of goods sold (COGS)/margin negotiations and to meet device margin/subsidy targets

  • Ensure business specific requirements are met in devices at launch

  • Measure device original equipment manufacturer (OEM) against performance goals

  • Lead quarterly executive review sessions for performance and strategic partnership opportunities

  • Align one to three year device strategy with marketing and business development teams

  • Conduct market assessments, which drive strategic planning and roadmaps

Partnership Management:

  • Manage partnerships with device vendor ecosystem to drive business device, product, and sales needs

  • Manage main distribution frame (MDF)/JMA with mobile compute vendors (laptop/convertible OEMs)

  • Program manage cross-VBG initiatives with device vendors and internal stakeholders

Sales Channel Enablement:

  • Align devices for Verizon retail, business direct fulfillment, and indirect fulfillment channels

  • Collaborate with Business Product Management team to position revenue generating solutions along with device sales

  • Drive and negotiate device OEM participation in business device showcase in Verizon retail stores

  • Ideate and execute on innovative device sales related transformation initiatives

We are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree or MBA desired
  • 10+ years of experience in product/device development and device/network technologies
  • 5+ years of mobile/telecom industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership and people management roles
  • Experience with competitive analysis and strategic planning
  • Device portfolio development, pricing negotiation, and contract development/execution expertise
  • Product management/development and project management expertise
  • In-depth understanding of device OS and chipset technologies and ecosystem players
  • Strong track record of collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Strong track record of identifying and delivering creative opportunities to achieve business organization goals
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with cross-functional partners to drive projects toward completion
  • Superior leadership, communication, organization, and team building skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other standard office computer applications
