What you’ll be doing...

Join the Verizon Cloud Design and Integration team and help build a high-performance carrier grade cloud! You will be part of our Network Application Design team and work with major Verizon network/business units (VES, Wireline and Wireless) to on-board business service applications as well as to migrate network infrastructure to Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP). You will be working closely with the rest of the design team, transport team, tenant OPS and vendors to develop Layer2/Layer 3 connectivity between the tenant space and the major business networks (WSN, EDN, IDN, A701, etc.) within Verizon. You will also work with tenant OPS and vendors to provide integration support during the initial tenant deployment. Working under a DevOps environment, your job function will tightly couple the design and integration process with field operations. You will have the responsibility for identifying ways to streamline and automate the design and integration process.

  • Develop reliable and adaptive network connectivity with clear understanding of overall network architecture and long term evolution path.
  • Create detailed VM connectivity/security design using Openstack features such as SRIOV, CPU pinning, affinity/anti-affinity rules.
  • Resolve architectural network connectivity issues by identifying creative and practical solutions.
  • Provide integration support to OPS teams during initial app deployment on VCP.
  • Provide engineering and design support for product life cycle in terms of capacity growth and architecture enhancement.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree
  • Six or more years working experience in networking within the technology, or telecommunication sector.
  • Two or more years working experience in Openstack deployment.
  • Experience with large scale network deployment.
  • Strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols such as Ethernet, VLAN, TCP, IPv4/IPv6 as well as routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Working experience with routers, firewalls, load balancers and DNS.
  • Familiarity with IMS architecture and VOIP/VoLTE call flow.
  • Linux experience – preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to clearly layout problem statements and provide analyses and recommendations.
  • Willingness to travel.
