What you’ll be doing...

The Sr. Manager, Information Risk Management (IRM) - IRM Services is responsible for designing, building, leading and managing the portfolio of Information Risk Management Services, in support of the enterprise-wide IRM program, which is a key pillar of the broader Verizon Corporate Information Security function.

The Sr. Manager must have a sound, working knowledge of qualitative and ideally, quantitative Information Risk Management frameworks and related operational risk and business impact risk management. Additionally, a solid background in business management, enterprise-grade cybersecurity technologies and of IT services and technology delivery operations. S/he will partner and work with the various executive leadership and stakeholders to recommend and implement improvements to policies, standards, and guidelines and will work to continuously improve and mature controls development and implementation processes to improve the quality and consistency of security controls within Verizon’s IT systems, IT Services and across the Enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, lead and manage the entire portfolio of IRM Services, including:
    • a corporate-wide Risk Register for Information Risk
    • the suite of Key Risk Indicators
    • common, standardized repeatable, Information Risk Management operational activities
    • Information Risk Triage
    • integration with policy lifecycle management
    • integration with compliance and exception management, integration with Technology Services delivery operations, integration with change control and planning
  • Develop comprehensive risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Work effectively with the Corporate Information Security leadership & executive team, the CIOs and the various business and Information security risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Ensuring hiring, training, staff development, performance management and annual performance reviews are aligned and effectively executed to continue to grow skills and capabilities in accordance with Verizon’s strategic needs.
  • Build the necessary internal relationships and communication networks among the broader information security team and line-of-business executives, corporate compliance, audit, physical security, legal and HR management teams.
  • Support the definition and implementation of Information risk management methodologies and security controls in accordance with Verizon policy and control frameworks.
  • Monitor external developments that may impact overall risk profiles, including emerging threats, technological developments, regulatory changes, etc.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor'sdegree or four or more years of experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in a combination of risk management, information security and technology
  • Experience with qualitative Information Risk Management frameworks

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Professional management certification, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or other related credentials.
  • Experience with quantitative Information Risk Management frameworks
  • Proven track record of building, training, and developing a high-performing team; ability to lead and motivate the organization to achieve tactical and strategic goals in a matrix organization
  • Sound knowledge of business management and a working knowledge of information risk management, cybersecurity and IT compliance technologies; knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Three or more years of people management
  • Knowledge of common information security management frameworks
