What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Global Real Estate organizationis looking for candidates who will become responsible for facility infrastructure, system engineering and implementation of construction projects across the US. This role involves the development and implementation of engineering plans and scope of work documents for Verizon building projects. Strict financial management of associated budgets and schedules for single year and or multiyear projects. Management of multiple engineering, architectural, construction management and general contractor vendors in accordance with current policies and practices in order to meet Verizon / GRE goals and objectives.

This role will focus around managinga program of projects in excess of thirty million dollars annually. It will deal with the engineering design and evaluation of various building types, alsodevising new approaches to resolving problems encountered. Development and management of project programs to reduce costs will be incorporated as well. The Real Estate Construction Manager ensures all designs and plans meet customer requirements, and are compatible with network equipment installations. This role will overseeproject and implementation managers to ensure coordination of activities with various stakeholders for timely completion of projects within the established budget. The type of construction will focus around engineering, design of HVAC, power, building automation, energy reduction, fire protection, building envelope and other critical systems; new floor space and infrastructure construction; system commissioning, decommissioning and restoration; engineering cost analysis, budget coordination, submission and tracking. This individual has oversight of large and diverse vendor base including Design Professionals, General Contractors, Construction Managers, Expediters etc. including sub-contractors and sub consultants. They will ensures compliance with all environmental rules and regulations and help the development of future year capital project plans.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Construction engineer experience with strong project management and supervisory skills focused around working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, UPS, generators, roofing and building construction.
  • Experience managing a program / project workload in excess of thirtymillion dollars annually.
  • Projects include but are not limited to Roofing, Facades, Energy Reduction, M.E.P. and Space Fit Outs.
  • Develop and maintain regular budget projections.
  • Experience with building design and deconstruction, project management, sourcing and procurement.
  • Experience in vendor management, personal safety equipment and use as well as project safety.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed Architectural / Engineering drawings, experience with AutoCAD and project management software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and project management software experience.
  • Knowledge with engineering, construction, implementation and operation of building infrastructure and envelope projects. Knowledge of how infrastructure work ties with Real Estate Strategic Planning and energy efficiency / sustainability.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, engineering drawings, studies, specifications, manuals and government regulations.
  • Working knowledge of determining project scope & definition, cost estimating and project scheduling.
  • Project planning including initiation for project scope and timeline, preparing initial cost estimates, overseeing design development, Procurement, permitting (including close-out), equipment delivery, all construction activity and project close out.
  • Manage annual budget in accordance with GRE Administrative rules for project approval, change orders and invoice payment.
  • Manage engineering consultants, construction contractors and equipment vendors.
  • Following a rigorous set of design, construction and procurement procedures and installation timelines.
  • Negotiates project costs and schedule with all vendors and stakeholders.
  • Managing project resources and coordinating project workload.
  • Closing out installation authorizations when equipment has been tested and put in service.
  • Participation in stakeholder, customer and local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) meetings.
  • Participation in resolving customer / AHJ problems as they pertain to facility / project concerns.
  • Strong computer skills: including MS Office and Google.
