What you’ll be doing...

Do you like to create and design forward-looking hardware and software products using revolutionary technologies? Can you face daily technical challenges and engineer solutions in a rapid-prototyping environment? Lead a team and present executive demonstrations?

Verizon is seeking a self-motivated candidate that will focus on researching and building Edge and Cloud computing solutions in areas such as Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics, and Drones, with the goal of commercialization new services with the Mobile Edge Compute Platform and 5G.

Candidate selected will:

  • Be expected to conceptualize new products and services, create a system architecture, and then work along with selected vendors to bring it to realization.
  • Write new server application frameworks for the purposes of proving concepts and viability
  • Transform standard server applications into containerized MEC applications on platforms such as Kubernetes, Open Stack, VMware, using Docker containers.
  • Develop and implement Machine Learning (NN models, training, different frameworks) to train MEC-based Artificial Intelligence applications to innovate new applications requiring low latency/high compute architecture.
  • Work with Network Planning, Strategy, and Marketing, along with other members of Device Technology, to create test tools, APIs, and diagnostic functionality into devices that interact with the Mobile Edge Compute Platform.
  • Participate and develop Web5G applications, tools, APIS, diagnostics, and participate in the Web5G standards bodies to promote Verizon interests and innovation.
  • Work with corporate strategy, marketing, and business leaders to create use cases for MEC applications, AI, and Web5G that will generate scalable platforms and generate recurring revenue.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • BS CS/EE
  • 5-10 years of C, C++, Python, JAVA, HTML5 programming experience.
  • Experience developing complex systems from end to end.
  • Experience with Computer vision, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
  • Experience with Containers and Orchestration Systems (Kubernetes, Open Stack, VMware).
  • Candidate should be able to develop tools that can be leveraged by Products teams.
  • Possess hands-on experience in software development with a can-do attitude and can think outside the box, coming up with innovative solutions.
  • A problem solver, a team player, energetic and highly motivated individual.
  • A technologist who exhibits enthusiasm, creativity, confidence, and curiosity.
  • Candidate must be able study the marketplace and look for areas where Verizon’s unique assets such as MEC, 5G, Network Slicing, etc. could provide improvement to existing paradigms, or create new segments.
  • Must be able to have a vision on how a business plan could be created, as all projects require forms of revenue generation.
  • Use Verizon assets in innovative ways, backed by a business plan that makes money or saves money.
