What you’ll be doing...
You will be responsible for providing complete technical oversight and project management for multiple transport network expansion projects. These projects focus on the expansion of the 5G and 4G network, and will require a skill set including, dark fiber, and microwave network design as well as data engineering skills creating router configuration scripts, and data network designs. Must have experience with Granite database, FUZE, and microwave design tool.
- Providing technical leadership and project management for the design, acquisition, and implementation for all equipment supporting Network infrastructure projects including DWDM and SONET Optical transport systems deployed throughout the Verizon Wireless (VZW) Network or Microwave point-to point or point to multi-point installations.
- Developing an engineering database for documentation of all fiber assets, plant, FDP panels, and IRU contract management.
- Handling microwave design/review, regulatory filings as well as implementation management.
- Managing the vendor selection, contract negotiation, RFP and ongoing relationships.
- Overseeing the financial aspects of multi-million dollar projects, including establishing business cases, and developing and managing budgets, procurement and bill payments.
- Interfacing constantly with higher levels of the management team across various organizations as part of the process of managing all facets of large, complex infrastructure deployments.
- Partnering with Network planning on strategic initiatives to develop future technology solutions, and features and growth jobs on existing products that support our infrastructure.
- Working with other group’s forecasts to ensure equipment growth projects meet expectant demands in support of the company’s objectives.
- Handling vendor management responsibilities, including engineering/design, managing budgets, procurement, and complete project management ensuring objectives are met in accordance with stated timelines.
- Providing training and guidance to team members.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of ASR ordering systems.
- Experience with Granite circuit database.
- Data network design and router configuration experience.
Even better if you have:
- Master's degree.
- Five or more years of experience in the cellular/ telecommunications industry in a Transport engineering role.
- Knowledge in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent, and Fujitsu.
- Knowledge with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Experience with PSTN traffic reporting tools, and least cost routing.
- Experience with Attoll or Pathloss for microwave design.
- Executive level troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational, planning, and decision making skills.
- Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.
- Ability to be self-motivated, show initiative, and capability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Capability to be highly productive and pay close attention to detail.
- Knowledge with engineering and engineering economic principles.
- Knowledge and proficiency in two or more of the following platforms and/or technologies: DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena 6500 and Fujitsu 9500, ALU/Nokia 7705 & 7750 routers. Cisco 920, 903 routers, PSTN traffic engineering including E911 and SS7, Digital Communications including: Fiber and Ethernet, Wireless voice and data service including: EVDO, CDMA, and LTE, Microwave experience including: ALU/Nokia MPR9500, and/or Test equipment experience including: JDSU & EXFO, spectrum analyzers, and path analyzers.
