What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s network requires interconnections to deliver the best customer experience and satisfaction, unleash innovation through new communications flows, evolve the industry through next-generation connectivity, support revenue growth, and provide the most efficient cost structure while running the industry’s best network. Your role will develop Verizon’s interconnect strategy and architecture, create plans and roadmaps to execute the strategy, and partner both internally and externally to achieve interconnect goals and objectives. You will lead a team of dedicated, highly motivated, and driven network planners. You will be expected to influence vendors, regulators, partners, and industry groups through your leadership and your team’s delivery of well-organized and thorough interconnect proposals and plans.

  • Providing required administration across the team including: capital and expense budget management and IT project initiation and delivery.

You must be a leader that will jump in, get dirty working issues, develop solutions, and drive progress. We are looking for someone that will dig deep, want to understand the problem or issues, and bring experience that can be applied to developing solutions. The role will required solid communications skills to work through complex challenges, roll up summaries, and defend positions and recommendations. You will be working at all level of the organization so be prepared to work through details followed by providing executive level materials. You must be comfortable collaborating, creating documents, and presenting – both internally and externally.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience managing large cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Experience in network engineering and/or operations systems and processes.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications standards, protocols, and practices, wireless and wireline network designs, and equipment technologies – telecom networking, IP networks and technologies, Cloud and SDN networks and technologies, equipment designs, translations and configuration procedures, and inventory databases.
  • Experience with interconnects including: TDM and VoIP peering, 8YY call routing, local and LD flows, ENUM based routing, RCS flows.
  • Knowledge of commercial interconnect agreements – both commercial and technical aspects.
  • Knowledge of fraudulent and illegal behaviors.
  • Technical and project management capabilities.
  • Organizational skills – ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to successful completion.
  • Cloud Technologies such as Openstack, Kubernetes, Containers, etc.
  • Experience delivering or deploying virtualized applications.
  • Experience in CI/CD and Agile work environments.
  • Network planning and engineering experience.
  • Experience working with Industry forms/standards/groups. Experience working with local, state, and national regulators.
  • Vendor Management experience - Managing vendors, including features and roadmap, commercial negotiations and engagements.
  • Subject matter expertise in network technologies.
