What you’ll be doing...

As part of the Technical Facility team you will have the responsibility for the technical installation of our datacenters and network locations within the Netherlands. The successful candidate for this role will work with a team of other electrical and mechanical engineers on all activities associated with the operation, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and repair for our datacenter, and network facility infrastructure. We take our customer requirements for uptime seriously and keep our facilities maintained to a very high standard in order to insure uninterrupted service for our customers. Responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Validating the completed work from third-party contractors on completion, accuracy, and correctness.
  • Receiving and responding to third-party reports of mechanical or maintenance issues on the systems.
  • Yearly maintenance planning.
  • Preparing and presenting estimates of cost of parts, equipment, and supplies of proposed installation or repairs.
  • Performing first-level assistance for the technical installation and third-party vendors.
  • Assisting with issues (e.g., contacting colleagues in other departments, third-party departments, technical questions).
  • Taking part in change activities, based on risk, impact, and customer demand might be scheduled during out of office hours (i.e., maintenance windows).
  • Ensuring compliancy for site health for all technical locations by performing all the related and assigned tasks to ensure we run our sites according to the global standards set by Verizon.
  • Performing repair activities based on assigned repair tickets for the locations.
  • Participating in 24x7 On Call rotary to cover emergency repairs, tickets, and maintenance activities.
  • During staff shifts, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance vendors during maintenance and break/fix events to ensure personnel safety, protect the facility’s critical equipment, and maintain power to the critical load.
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved MOPs and the Verizon Critical Facility work rules.
  • Creating required MOPs.
  • Performing periodic technical and quality reviews of all MOPS to ensure that the most “up-to-date” techniques and safety guidelines are utilized as well as compliant with regulations.
  • Collecting and generating vendor field service reports describing all activities (e.g., preventive maintenance, repairs) performed.
  • Developing reliability reports to assist in identifying areas of concern that could develop into future problems.
  • Facility walk-throughs to document important parameters (e.g., power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status) to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.

    You’ll need to have:

    • A Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • Willingness to travel.
    • Fluency in Dutch and English (written and verbal).

    Even better if you have:

    • A degree.
    • A strong technical knowledge of environmental control equipment (HVAC and air conditioning), electronic controls and power distribution.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Experience in working in stressful situations.
    • Experience working on critical Data Center systems (UPS, PDU, Diesel Generators, ATS equipment and Building Controls), as well as industrial electrical equipment and systems that include power distribution components/wiring, electronic components and lighting systems.
