What you’ll be doing...

The Director for Strategic Sourcing is responsible for establishing a vision and direction for the Strategic Sourcing team across the enterprise. The Director will be responsible for partnering with the Category Intelligence team and executing global category sourcing strategies (Property & Logistics, Corporate Services) for spend of approximately $10 billion initially and more through increased responsibility. The Director will manage 5-8 direct reports and be responsible for an organization of 60-80 employees.

Reporting to the Vice President, the director will enhance organizational performance through category strategy deployment, executing sourcing events, driving effective and efficiency, driving day-to-day stakeholder engagement, spend management and optimizing value to drive towards world class performance. This position has visibility to mid and high level executives.

Director will be expected to:

  • Execute Business Relationship Management and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization with mid to high level executives by partnering on business and category strategies to ensure operational excellence.
  • Partner with Category Intelligence and ensure the effective implementation of category sourcing strategies to harness economies of scale, drive economic value, and enable business growth.
  • Lead strategic negotiations across the enterprise with vendors/suppliers/partners and ensure proper contracting. Develop Master Service agreements, Scopes of Work, and Contracts with suppliers and ensure appropriate addendums are handled at the local level.
  • Responsible for delivering against sourcing metrics (savings, cash, responsiveness, compliance, etc.)
  • Build a diverse, high performing team. Coach, mentor, and develop outstanding sourcing talent across the organization. Accountable for building a team that can enable and keep pace with the business
  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures, policies, systems and controls; manage approvals and governance
  • Understand, recommend and deploy best practices. Drive continuous improvement with focus on the stakeholder experience
  • Build and leverage strong relationships and networks both within and outside the organization. Use personal influence skills rather than position power to persuade others and gain support
  • Additional responsibilities to meet business needs as identified

What we’re looking for...

  • 10+ years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business or Technical area or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong understanding of the supplier landscape, costs associated with categories and different contract structures used in the industry
  • Problem solving & demonstrated leadership with the ability to drive change
  • Proven track record of developing effective operational teams
  • High enthusiasm towards learning about new products, solutions and technology trends
  • Demonstrated competency in communication and presentation skills; able to interact effectively with internal and external audiences at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional/category teams to achieve strategic initiatives and work independently through complex assignments
  • Proficiency working with large amounts of data to synthesize a picture
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiating and facilitation skills
  • Highly developed critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects, and successfully drive them to completion within the required timeframe
  • Self-starter; proven success working in a highly dynamic, deadline-driven environment

Additional Professional Experience and Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma or Procurement related certification
  • Experience in using Design Thinking, Sprints and similar process enhancement techniques
  • Experience in leveraging automated systems to drive value and operational efficiency (i.e. Ariba Guided Buying)
