What you’ll be doing...

The Contracts Specialist is essential in helping Verizon secure additional and maintain existing contracts, increase revenue, and provide a positive customer experience. You will contribute to the success of Verizon’s Business Markets segment Sales team by providing legal and business support for the contractual relationship with small, medium and mid-market customers. In this role you will be responsible for a wide range of contract and customer relationship activities. The Contracts Specialist will: generate first drafts of various contracts and amendments that are legally sound and comply with Verizon policies and practices; review contract changes proposed by customers and suggest Verizon responses using internal materials as a guide; review and provide input on customer request for proposal documents; collaborate closely with internal Verizon stakeholders including sales, product management, finance and other subject matter experts while providing front-line support for the Contract Manager and/or attorney that supports Business Markets customers; participate on cross-functional teams to resolve contract disputes; support ongoing initiatives, and contribute new ideas, for meeting compliance requirements, process improvement and system enhancements.

The successful candidate must have the ability to interpret contract terms, exercise sound business and legal judgment, and interact effectively across functions and with senior management. We are looking for a confident, versatile self-starter who is able to work independently, complete tasks with competing priorities, and keep up-to-date on Verizon’s expanding product portfolio and the systems used for Verizon’s contracting and support processes while maintaining excellent working relationships with customers and internal Verizon sales and finance clients, legal colleagues and other internal stakeholders.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and developing responses to proposals.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Paralegal certificate or pre-law courses.
  • Project management and organizational skills to closely manage multiple transactions and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.
  • Experience in arelated work environment such as a fast paced in-house corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Experience with wireline services, products and technology.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google’s G-Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external groups simultaneously to quickly achieve common goals.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with personnel in various roles and levels across the organization, and enforce legal requirements without alienating clients.
