What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Manager of Security Engineering falls within the Corproate Information Security (CIS) Security Operations organization. This role is responsible for leading a diverse, technical team to manage mission-critical data center infrastructure services to enable specialized network monitoring and data collection processes at an enterprise scale.

  • Directly responsible for service delivery of asset management, access management, change management, and vulnerability management processes.

  • Manage network, access, server, storage, security information & event management (SIEM), and big data infrastructures.

  • Directly responsible for implementing internal controls to collect, manage, and protect corporate Highly Confidential data.

  • Manage internal controls and documentation to maintain ISO 27001 certification status.

  • Directly responsible for vendor management and technology evaluation and selection, resource and knowledge management, project and status reporting, and budget maintenance.

  • Directly responsible for team management and leadership functions including development of job descriptions, hiring, training, and performance management documentation.

  • Management and reporting of project capital and operations budgets.

  • Prepare and present communications to senior management including leadership teams.

  • Collaborate with other peers and leaders within the Corporate Information Security (CIS) Security Operations team to establish and maintain the enterprise.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree of four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or ten or more years of IT and Network/Information Security work experience.

  • Previous leadership experience in related job roles or military service.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain and document ideas.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Valid professional credentials demonstrating related competencies; CISSP, CISA, ITIL, or related certifications.

  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 and ITIL.

  • Wide technical experience across multiple domains including networking, systems administration, and security.

  • Knowledge of common data center technologies and concepts.

  • Ability to act calmly and competently in confidential, high-stress situations.

  • Knowledge of how to leverage specialized knowledge, technology, and processes to support the Verizon business.
