What you’ll be doing...

Responsibilities: The Process Improvement Leader will develop and implement business process improvements that enhance Verizon’s effectiveness in capturing public-sector contracts and large opportunities. This initiative involves substantial changes to both internal business processes and internal IT systems. These business process changes will affect several functional groups including sales, capture, proposal management, engineering, implementation and pricing. The associated IT system changes will affect currently deployed applications including Salesforce, SAP and Clarity.

The Process Improvement Leader is responsible for the overall success of these business process improvements. Key success factors include level of adoption, schedule adherence, budget adherence, and improvement in pursuit effectiveness metrics.

The Process Improvement Leader will oversee all aspects of business process definition, development and deployment, guiding a team of functional experts, project managers and software developers. You will play a particularly important role in 1 - developing and maintaining stakeholder commitment; 2 - ensuring that functional experts are engaged in shaping improvements and are satisfied with the delivered solution; and 3 – briefing senior management andleading improvement initiatives.

What we’re looking for...

  • Demonstrated success leading at least two substantial business process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to parse, manipulate and interpret complex data. Experience developing reports or dashboards that translate complex data into understandable, actionable intelligence.

  • At least three years of experience as a key contributor to complex public-sector capture pursuits. Key-contributor roles may include: capture manager, proposal manager, salesperson, pre-sales engineer, pre-sales program manager, estimator, or pricing specialist.
  • At least five years of experience in selling or delivering complex IT and telecommunication solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to and gaining the strong support of senior executives
  • At least three years of experience as a project manager or as a manager of project managers.
  • A solid understanding of corporate financial terminology, methodologies, metrics and protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated in formal presentations, written communications and oral discussions. Ability to effectively share complex information while adjusting presentation approach based on the needs of a particular audience.
  • Proven ability to deliver program success in the face of obstacles. Demonstrated experience proactively mitigating risks and conflicts that threaten program success.

Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidates will also demonstrate the following:

  • Six Sigma process improvement training and certification. Yellow belt or greater.
  • At least two substantial involvements with software development efforts including gathering user requirements, training users and leveraging user feedback.
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing large complex programs
  • Understanding of the existing Verizon public-sector presale processes
  • Understanding of existing Verizon pre-sale organizations and decision-makers
  • MBA and/or senior leadership experience
