What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a talented attorney with initiative and drive to be an integral member of the Antitrust Practice Group. The Counsel will advise senior executives on antitrust issues, help Verizon navigate complex strategic transactions and partnerships, respond to antitrust agencies’ requests, work on antitrust lawsuits, defend depositions, manage outside counsel and economists, help develop antitrust policy positions, coordinate with other Legal Department and business groups, and help move transactions through the antitrust-approval process. The position reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel for Antitrust.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise senior executives and other members of the Legal Department on antitrust issues.
  • Help navigate complex strategic transactions and advise on joint venture development and participation.
  • Advise on strategic and antitrust issues in connection with emerging technologies.
  • Help develop Verizon’s antitrust policy positions.
  • Help manage outside counsel, economists, and consultants.
  • Some travel, depending on caseload.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • JD Degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Bar membership in good standing and needed licenses.
  • Three or more years ofantitrust experience in government, law firm or corporate legal department; in-house legal experience a plus.
  • Experience providing antitrust counseling on complex business transactions.
  • Experience advising on antitrust issues involving innovative technologies and communications services.
  • Extensive experience responding to requests from antitrust agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and the European Commission.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • A Degree.
  • Experience navigating transactions through the antitrust-approval process.
  • Experience working on document productions, including demonstrated proficiency with e-discovery tools.
  • Experience managing outside counsel, economists, and consultants.
  • Experiencewith the telecommunications and technologies industries.
  • Experience with the current antitrust-policy landscape around the globe.
  • Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions and the judgment to know when to seek guidance.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and process high volumes of work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal groups.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Interest in technology, developing technological fluency, and learning about technological developments and their intersection with law.
