What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a technical product manager to help define and build our product strategy around alternative distribution for our Grid Wide platform as a service. Leveraging Verizon’s network and edge computing technologies, our Grid Wide Smart Metering Platform is changing the way utilities deliver next generation smart grid solutions.

This position shall have a variety of responsibilities including: developing and maintaining business relationships and designing policies which allow partnerships to thrive; identifying opportunities for new partnerships; strengthening existing relationships and collaborations; attending workshops; building professional networks; developing and executing business plans for strategic growth; conducting market research; synthesizing reports of business metrics; negotiating contracts with strategic partners; and attending meetings to serve as representatives of their organizations. As a trusted adviser to our partners, this person will help develop business plans aligned to shared business goals. Build deep, consultative relationships with partners and contacts to understand customer/partner high-level business objectives and match these to solutions to satisfy both the business and technical requirements of the partner practice and the customer challenges.You shall represent Verizon Grid Wide services with responsibilities to provide our partners’ support in order generate sales revenue and related contracts

You will engage with partners’ sales representatives in prospecting, qualifying and identifying sound business prospects interested in purchasing our Grid Wide Platform as a Service through our partner and resellers along with working closely with partner management to grow the business. You will also be responsible for effectively communicating Verizon’s Grid Wide value proposition and product suite to the partner sales representatives to continue to increase mind share inside of the partner organization. You will be responsible for increasing Company revenue by managing successful partner campaigns with our partners’ prospects and/or customers. You will assist in partner Request for Proposal (RFP) responses for ensuring support as needed. You will provide up-to date sales, marketing, forecast and competitive information to leadership.

  • Manage new and existing partners to increase product sales.

  • Build positive working relationships with partners to ensure smooth partner services.

  • Identify, recruit and on-board new partners to build business.

  • Coordinate with partners to identify new business opportunities for revenue generation.

  • Educate partners on product portfolio and complimentary services offered.

  • Work with partners to conduct product presentations to end users.

  • Provide proposals, quotations and pricings to partners.

  • Analyze sales contracts with respect to legal and financial perspectives.

  • Develop profitable business models based on market trends and competitor activity.

  • Ensure that partners are up-to-date with product information.

  • Introduce new products and its features to partners.

  • Conduct business review with partners and recommend improvements.

You have technical acumen and are a strategic thinker with amiable personalities, positive outlooks, and expert communication skills. Organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are also beneficial. You are able to work with multiple partner teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree of four or more years of experience

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience

  • Product management experience delivering to Enterprise and/or Utility clients.

  • Knowledge of utility vertical drivers, opportunity, and trends [e.g. – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Distributed Energy Resources, etc.]

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • B.S. with advanced degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience – a combination of engineering/technical and MBA education.

  • Deep understanding of the utility industry and competitive marketplace for smart grid services.

  • Seven or more years of product management experience delivering to Enterprise and/or Utility clients.

  • Experience managing partnerships selling and supporting utility industry solutions through alternative distribution.

  • Understanding of and relationships with leading VAR’s, and systems integrators within the utility industry

  • Proven track record of launching business products/capabilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to drive, lead and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Strong strategic perspective and customer focus.

  • Experience managing across multiple technology partners.

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Outstanding financial acumen.

  • Excellent communication and presentations skills with demonstrated experience communicating to senior leadership stakeholders.
