What you’ll be doing...
In an effort to customize and drive greater value out of the Managed Security Services and Vulnerability Management Services, Verizon clients have the ability to purchase additional support via a Client Security Engineer (CSE) (formally Security Life Cycle Engineer (SLCE) or Client Engineer (CE)).
Client Security Engineer (CSE) is another integral part of the managed security solution. Our CSE partner with the customer’s network and security architects to create security designs based on best practices and customized to meet the customer security policies. You will ensure that new designs support appropriate capacity levels and then provide ongoing capacity management though-out the design life cycle. You are tasked with lifecycle ownership of the environment and works closely with Security Operations Center and back office MSS teams to provide 3rd and/or 4th level operational support, problem resolution, and identify production pain points. As part of the solution, CSE can be engaged to provide proactive project proposals based on capacity monitoring and operational pain points. All security designs are created to support SLA and are therefore optimized to support business continuity. Where possible, we will also look for opportunities to consolidate infrastructure to reduced cost and/or dedicated lanes built for high priority applications. Our CSE have extensive experience with complex designs including those associated with the wide variety of vendor platforms supported by MSS today.
Our CSEs have a passion for both security infrastructure and security analytics; as such they might be supporting management only, monitoring only or solutions that are a combination of both. This requires a broad skillset and good work experience.
You will be working in dynamic multinational environment anda team with highly skilled and motivated individuals. Depending on the client engagement and the contracted services the responsibility may vary. For our infrastructure focused CSEs there are responsibilities in the following areas, supporting clients who have contracted for MSS management.
- Managing Security Architecture & Life Cycle Support.
- Supporting operations, change management, and vulnerability management.
- Owning Projects.
- Being the Policy Management Consultative.
- Running IDS/IPS Policy Tuning.
- Tuning of MSS Analytics platform & creation of custom use case.
- Performing retrospective review of escalated security incidents.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree orrelevant work experience.
- Relevant experience in IT Security.
- Expert level experience and certification with at least one firewall vendor (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco, Fortinet).
- Proven experience in multiple vendor devices & technologies including UTM, IDS/IPS, NGFW, proxies and NAC.
- General knowledge of the most common operating systems.
- Experience working in a customer facing role.
- Knowledge of a common scripting language (preferably Python) and basic experience in DevOps.
- Willingness to travel on rare occasions and work flexible schedule as necessary.
Even better if you have:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree or relevant work experience.
- Experience with hands-on technical support of network and network security products.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- An interest in both security infrastructure and security analytics.
- Knowledge of network products & technologies and certifications in that area (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).
- Security certifications from SANS or ISC² (CISSP, GCIH, GPEN, GMON, etc.)
- Knowledge of a SIEM solution (Splunk, RSA) as well creation/development of use cases.
- Past work experience in the security incident detection or response realm.
- Experience of IDS/IPS tuning.
- Experience with third party cloud solutions (Zscaler, iBoss, Cylance).
- Experience with Vulnerability Management solutions (Qualys, Nessus).
- Experience with Policy Assessment tools (Tufin, Algosec, Firemon, Skybox).
- Experience with Linux/UNIX based environments.
- Knowledge of a scripting language.
- Communication skills, listening as well as oral and written technician to Executive level.
- Ability to work individually without much guidance is essential.
- Time management skills to balance between clients.
