What you’ll be doing...

The opportunity around intelligent edge devices is significant. These devices, ranging from tiny MCU based sensor devices to powerful edge appliances, have profound impact on enterprises everywhere. The intelligent edge is strategically important to Verizon, particularly as we make large investments in areas such as Edge Computing, 5G networks, Software Defined Networks, Smart Cities, Autonomous Vehicles, etc.

We're looking for a hand-on, fast learning, and tech savvy ML/AI engineer with strong and demonstrated expertise in IoT systems and machine learning. In this role, you will be working on creating the next generation of intelligent edge solutions across a wide range of form factors, device archetypes and AI technologies to enable new application scenarios and provide real-time operational insights.

  • Design and implement full stack edge AI solutions using NNs and statistical machine learning models, techniques, and platforms. AI/ML domains of most interest include Video analytics (Object detection, Pose analytics, and image classification/segmentation), Predictive Maintenance, Anomaly Detection (vision or statistical ML), and Predictive Quality (products and process).

  • As an AI/ML solutions SME, engage in all project lifecycle stages, including requirements/needs gathering, data collection and labeling, data transformation/processing, building & validating models, and deploying working AI/ML solutions.

  • Define AI/ML reference architectures, technology stacks, and design/implementation best practices as they apply to IoT and Edge use cases.

  • Research, experiment and rapidly build prototypes and POCs using cloud and/or open source AI/ML tools and platforms.

  • Implement, tune, and integrate pre-trained models, and leverage transfer learning where applicable.

  • Set up end-to-end IoT data ingestion, processing, and AI/ML inferencing pipelines.

  • Engage with other Verizon teams, solutions architects, partners/vendors, and products organizations to support AI IoT/edge solution/products development and sales opportunities.

  • Present and discuss complex technical details with engineers/architects and brief executive audiences.

  • Author technology/solutions/services white papers and sales briefs.

  • Support the development of AI/ML solutions and service offering collateral.
