What you’ll be doing...

Verizon recently acquired BlueJeans and plans to transition BlueJeans employees into Verizon compensation and benefits programs. This position will be part of that planned transition.

We are looking for a skilled macOS/iOS developer to be part of a lean-agile team developing apps and features that will change how the world works together. Along with the rest of your team, you will be responsible for delivering great experiences across our Mac and iOS platforms.

  • Build and maintain the Company’s macOS and iOS applications. Design, develop and test client media, business logic, and UI code for multi-way collaboration features and functionality at both system and user experience levels in Company’s Mac desktop and iOS applications.
  • Build optimizations to retain the highest possible audio/video quality under the full range of wi-fi/network conditions encountered by the customer base and to also ensure minimal performance footprint (CPU, GPU, battery drain, memory, bandwidth) of the applications for best user experience.
  • Work together with Design and Product Management teams to spec out and implement intuitive and elegant user experience flows for new collaboration features as well as perfect existing flows such as meeting join and leave, camera/mic/speaker selection, content sharing, etc.
  • Build resilience and recovery features to minimize disruption to the user experience in case of failure conditions (i.e. servers going down, connections dropping, etc.).
  • Write automation test suites to catch quality regressions.
  • Review code from peers and provide design feedback.
  • Instrument, capture, and analyze data in internal and external monitoring tools to debug customer issues in real-time and provide support.
  • Deploy and roll out updates to the applications via the appropriate ecosystems (S3/Akamai for the macOS app, Apple App Store for the iOS app).
  • \Monitor ecosystems for new releases (ex. New Operating System versions, new hardware profiles) and ensure the continued compatibility of the Company’s apps with them.
  • You care about your craft and are an opinionated software engineer ex. Storyboards vs layout in code, XCode’s pros and cons as an IDE. You do not just copy and paste for OS X/iOS code.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Software engineering experience within the Apple ecosystem
  • Experience in Swift and/or Objective-C.

Even better if you have:

  • Good understanding of AppKit and/or UIKit.
  • Experience with some of Apple’s most commonly used Core frameworks: CoreAnimation, CoreAudio, CoreData, CoreLocation for example.
  • Experience writing tests to prove that your code is correct, modular, well written, and to prevent regressions.
  • God sense of UI design and a keen focus on user experience
  • Good understanding of the AppStore submission process
  • At least one app that you built or significantly contributed to in the App Store.
  • Experience with video/audio technologies and codecs like WebRTC, H323, H264, SIP, OpenCV.
  • Written a test suite for a Mac or iOS app using some combination of XCTest framework, Kif, Appium, Xamarin Test Cloud, AWS Device Farm.
  • Experience with calendaring systems such as Exchange Web Services and Google Calendar APIs.
  • Experience with hardware endpoint APIs - Polycom, Lifesize, Cisco etc.
  • Track record of Open Source contributions to significant projects.
  • Deep understanding of performance measurement and optimization.
