What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a highly-motivated, flexible, organized, and detail-oriented Proposal Writer/Editor to write/edit proposal content prior to final proposal submission. We are seeking someone who is equally comfortable working independently and as a member of a team.   • Assist the team with gathering information, synthesizing it, and presenting it in a straightforward and easy to understand format.
  • Research, revise, and improve technical content prepared by proposal stakeholders including technical SMEs, Capture, Program Management staff, etc.
  • Analyze and interpret customer requirements (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.); analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to determine required responses and identify relevant reuse materials.
  • Edit the text in the Proposal Development Process; provide editing for assigned projects, proof/edit proposal documents, including editing for content, tone, consistency, and competitiveness; coordinate and edit technical input from subject matter experts for grammar and clarity.
  • Interview internal subject matter experts and write assigned sections of proposals; coach subject matter experts on section content.
  • Track and monitor the flow of all documents from inception to distribution of final copies.
  • Develop outlines, which will be used as a key document for compliance and configuration management.
  • Assist with research on a variety of assigned topics to develop writing plans and outlines.
  • Assist in the development of supporting plans, documents, and appendices.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of corporate documents.
  • Write and edit non-technical material such as resumes and corporate experience.
  • Develop and update style guides and other writing/interviewing tools.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in writing and editing.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and composition as well as oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Research, writing, proofing, formatting and editing skills.
  • A self-starter that can work independently and in a team environment with a proactive service attitude and willingness to take a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to multitask and meet short timelines/deadlines; and at times have the ability to work weekends and holidays to meet proposal deadlines.
  • Commitment to performing and producing at the highest level of quality at all times.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Ability to display professionalism and provide premier customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Flexible to change and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work well as part of a team with a diverse set of personalities, in a fast paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Experience in analyzing and responding to RFIs/RFPs with strong writing, editing, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, specifically MS Word (styles, templates, paragraph numbering, linking and importing graphics) and PowerPoint.
