What you’ll be doing...

The VCP Far Edge team builds and supports a variety of tools and APIs to support Verizon Cloud Platform operations. As the scale of the VCP Far Edge deployment expands, we need skilled DevOps and infrastructure engineers to develop and support the automation necessary to deploy and manage the VCP Far Edge cloud at scale. You will provide architectural leadership including review of services and automation within the ecosystem along with service integration techniques and software decomposition and refactoring, where appropriate. This includes a willingness to enhance the team’s learning environment by providing and encouraging mentorship and technical leadership.

You will envision, architect, implement, and support infrastructure deployment automation and APIs across the Verizon Cloud Platform ecosystem.

  • Designing, building, testing, deploying and operating automation and APIs.
  • Deploying and managing hardware and virtualization/containerization platforms as provided by multiple vendors.
  • Executing continuous integration, continuous deployment, while leveraging DevOps best practices.
  • Advising on troubleshooting and the triage of problem reports, resolutions, and escalate as required.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE, IT, Mathematics or other technical field.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and frameworks (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Terraform, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, Shell, Ruby, Perl, other).
  • Monitoring and log management skills (e.g. Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Grafana, Kafka).
  • Knowledge of Linux configuration and administration.
  • Experience with Kubernetes solution architecture.
  • Experience working with distributed systems at scale.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to enhance team learning environment by providing and encouraging mentorship and technical leadership.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of 5G technology and architecture.
  • Experienced system architecture and design.
