What you’ll be doing...
As a Network Planning member of technical staff you will be responsible for engaging in 5G Vertical ecosystems to develop Industry Standards: Optical Network Transport and Broadcast Services. With a focus on preparing 4G and 5G networks to meet next generation feature requirements and performance, you will be responsible for technology analysis and driving Verizon priorities, strategic interests and objectives in Industry Groups. You’ll be analyzing and designing E2E architecture and systems to optimize network capabilities and support innovative applications for standardization and commercialization. The 5G architecture delivers capabilities to support demanding ultra-low latency, massive MTC connections and high throughput performance requirements to meet customer experiences.
- Participating in and leading the evolution of next generation Industry Standard meetings, Industry Groups and Forums for Verizon – MEF, Broadband Alliance, O-RAN, IEEE, IETF, ATSC and others.
- Providingextensive end-to-end Fiber, MPLS/OTNGN and Transport expertise.
- Evaluating and authoring Industry Group contributions to drive Verizon positions and alignment with operators, vendors and enterprises.
- Partnering with a range of internal organizations to align a technology roadmap for Optical Equipment, Transport Protocols/Security, as well as and Video/Broadcast related services.
- Developing excellent working relationships with Network Planning, Device Technology, Network Operations Teams, Data Performance, System Performance, and Engineering and Operations, Corporate Strategy, Legal/Regulatory, and VBG/VCG.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Willingness to travel 25%-50% of the time.
Even better if you have:
- Master’s Degree or Phd in Computer Engineering or any other related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in Wireless 4G/5G Core networks (EPC and IMS Core) with video, voice, TCP/IP optimization experience.
- Experience with extensive end-to-end Fiber, MPLS/OTNGN and Transport experience.
- Proficiency with video compression, streaming, and video related protocols such as IPTV, VOD, MPEG, network protocols, analysis, and video compression/audio codec standards.
- Proven experience leading and driving technical initiatives across different teams internally and externally.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
