What you’ll be doing...

We are investing in our network to improve the way we live, work, and communicate. Our One Fiber build will be critical for all our future connectivity businesses including new products such as IoT, 5G, and future smart cities. As part of this initiative, you will help build one network engineered for growth for all lines of business. You’ll run different components aspects of implementation of the one fiber build. Working with the business and IT on new user requirements, calling out issues internally and externally you will meet deliverables, and weigh the benefits of IT improvements with the business value. You will take corporate architecture guidelines; will review existing Verizon Network infrastructure, current business drivers, as well as future market growth opportunities to develop high level, market specific, designs of front and back haul fiber networks.

  • Supporting Assigned 1F Markets.
  • Analyzing new or changing customer demand developing OSP Fiber solutions and cost estimates.
  • Supporting Market requests for fiber and customer demand analysis (Carve Out, Budget management/trim, stranded builds; sector carrier violations; potential fiber congestion).
  • Reviewing and supporting design changes impacting ODN Polygon Serving Area designs.
  • Working with the field teams and IT to resolve design or boundary issues impacting the build or invoicing processes.
  • Managing capacity of the Market OSP Fiber, ODN facilities, OLT Capacity and splitter bandwidth utilization.
  • Issuing NGPON2 OLT CCRs and OSP Planning Work Orders to provide necessary relief within the defined budget.
  • Supporting Single Pane of Glass activities as required to activate new field splitters/customer locations.
  • Issuing NGPON2 OTU2 Link requests as needed to support new OLT turn up and bandwidth growth.
  • Developing cost estimates for growth projects; work with the budgeting team to secure necessary funding.
  • Reviewing 3rd Party Dark and Lit services request analysis, solution development and cost estimation.
  • Analyzing new Enterprise Customer requests.
  • Developing OSP fiber solution solutions including cost estimates and development of augmentation plans.
  • Supporting of Telco Migration and Near Net activity and solutions within assigned market.
  • Supporting special projects including management of departmental KPIs.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Engineering, Planning, or Operations knowledge, especially with Outside Plant Planning, ODN Design, and Customer solution design.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic engineering principles within OSP job related functional area to include general practices, procedures and industry standards.
  • Experience with the 1F Program.
  • Experience with Optical Distribution Network Design and exposure to Corning and CommScope Indexed Fiber gear.
  • Experience proposing solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Strong organization skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to successful completion.
  • Experience making independent decisions based on policies, practices and project requirements.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and effective in multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve deliverables and resolve urgent/complex issues.
  • Verbal and written skills for inter-organizational communications.
  • Knowledge of Verizon systems such as :ICON, CCP, CoFEE, Nautilus ,FIM, FIM-Planning, 3GIS, InetInquiry , and nSAP
  • Experience with Agile processes and methodologies.
  • Strong computer skills (Databases, Processes, and Administrative) - knowledge and skill of complex applications including Word, Excel, Visio, ArcGIS/ESRI, 3GIS, Google Earth, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) and GIS applications.
