What you’ll be doing...

As part of the Network Security organization, the Red Team uses long-term campaigns, active incident support, and continuous investigation to secure Verizon's wired and wireless networks used by millions of customers daily. The Red Team Principal Engineer uses offensive security techniques to proactively identify security issues in the Verizon network.

In this role you will be responsible for leading Red Team campaigns and conducting continuous penetration testing of deployed production systems. You will use a combination of OSINT and all available internal resources to identify appropriate targets, plan and execute security assessments, and report or present findings within Network Security and to stakeholders. Responsibilities may include:

  • Use offensive techniques to assess the security of the Verizon network.
  • Identify and enumerate appropriate targets within a general scope.
  • Plan and lead structured Red Team campaigns.
  • Continuously and proactively investigate possible risks to the network.
  • Support incident response through security validation and impact assessment.
  • Collaborate with other security teams and align with organizational objectives.
  • Communicate findings and make recommendations to address root causes.

What we’re looking for...

You have strong technical skills in security and networking, a desire to resolve the root cause of issues, and the ability to navigate multiple corporate cultures successfully.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in penetration testing, red teaming, exploitation, or related specialties.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking equipment, protocols, and architectures.
  • Coding experience in either Python, Go, Powershell, Javascript, or other languages.

Even better if you have:

  • Ability to quickly assess purpose and value of a compromised system and pivot further.
  • Industry-recognized security certifications (preferably SANS or Offensive Security).
  • Ability to search and report on large datasets via Splunk.
  • Prior system or network administration experience.
  • Specialized wireless or wired telecom knowledge.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack, Kubernetes, or AWS.
