What you’ll be doing...

The Hybrid Cloud Systems Engineer will play a key role in the strategic direction, architecture and implementation of Hybrid Cloud Systems services across the corporate Systems IT team at Verizon Connect.

  • Provisioning, deploying, configuring and maintaining Saas, PaaS, and IaaS services such Azure, HyperV, VMWare ESXi.
  • Managing shared storage (FC, iSCSI), storage controllers, RAID types, Storage appliance.
  • Maintaining existing and build new Windows 2008(R2)/2012(R2)/2016/2019 Server, Active Directory and related applications/services.
  • Working with security teams to resolve security vanabulties and remediations.
  • Supporting end users as needed for systems support in multiple environments (onprem and cloud).
  • Managing regular patching schedules for all server environments.
  • Working with other IT systems team members to help as needed for support.
  • Providing inputs to systems architecture and driving the implementation of it with multiple teams.
  • Developing weekly reports on systems uptime and performance, provide recommendations.
  • Maintaining systems documentation.
  • Decommissioning multiple legacy environments.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent understanding of architecting, designing, implementing, and managing IaaS environments such as Amazon AWS, Azure, Rackspace
  • Strong experience with network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, VPN, SNMP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, MPLS, others)
  • Excellent experience in Windows 2008(R2)/2012(R2)/2016/2019 Server, Active Directory and related applications/services. (DNS, DHCP, NPS, DFS, ADFS, WAP, ADMT, RADIUS, WSUS), GPO deployment and management
  • Excellent understanding of highly available hypervisor clusters and associated technologies and concepts (HyperV, VMWare ESXi, NIC teaming, shared storage (FC, iSCSI), storage controllers, RAID types, Storage appliance management, RSAT and related management tools etc.)
  • Experience with managing Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with network protocols and technologies such as VoIP, SIP
  • Experience in a high-performance, high-availability environment development.
  • Experience with Splunk log monitoring
  • Experience working with PMP, Cyberark, PDQ, Tanium, Barracuda Backup
  • Experience with SSO technologies such as Okta, Siteminder
  • Experience with MDM solutions such as Airwatch, Workspace one
  • General Systems/Networks security best practices
  • Excellent understanding of SaaS based messaging and productivity services such as GSuite and Office 365
  • Ability to troubleshoot production problems, identify RCA and automate fixes.
  • Experience managing DevOps products like, Gitlab, Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical problem solver, detail oriented
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills and root cause identification skills
  • Comfortable in a time-sensitive, project driven, team based environment, can work independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Technology & Cloud certification.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
  • Experience as a Linux administrator in a systems operations role.
  • Monitoring and auditing systems experience.
  • Experience with PAM, Cyberark,
