What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Technology Product Development (TPD) Product Security team works to incorporate governance and security into the design of technology systems and services while promoting Verizon security standards in the TPD organization. The TPD team is also responsible for the AWS infrastructure, PACT (Product AWS Cloud Technology). PACT is the directional platform for AWS deployments that provides a consistent, repeatable and secure way to drive product creation and innovation for all TPD, VBG and VCG product teams.
The PACT Security team is responsible for Cloud Security Planning and Review of Security Architecture, development and implementation of Security Controls, Security DevOps Engineering and overall security compliance of the PACT AWS platform and the products that are on it.

The Manager of Cloud Security is responsible for driving the security direction of the PACT platform. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of security as code, configuration and automation of security controls to ensure that the PACT platform meets and exceeds overall Verizon security compliance.This is a hands-on Manager position, requiring the appropriate candidate to be highly technically proficient in Data Protection, Compliance Validation, Vulnerability Analysis, Network Security, Infrastructure Security, CICD Security, Identity and Access Management, Logging and Monitoring, Incident Response, Data and Analytics, and Resiliency. This position also requires the candidate to be very proficient in cloud technologies, preferably AWS. This manager will make decisions both autonomously and also with the counsel and support of the PACT Platform leadership and the Director of TPD Product Security.You will provide guidance regarding strategic approach and overall deliverables to their team that will be constructed in line with the greater PACT architectural board set of deliverables.

  • Contribute in establishing vision, direction, and specific objectives for team efforts while providing the freedom to accomplish objectives.
  • Communicate strategy to team so they understand their role in achieving the established goals
  • Create, document and promote detailed Cloud security architecture designs.
  • Create, document and promote security solutions consumable by PACT customers.
  • Create, document and promote a detailed vision / security roadmap for PACT.
  • Collaborate with the lead security architect and peer Information Security teams to set the direction of PACT security e.g. Strategy, Compliance, Privacy, SOC/CIRT and Risk Assessment.
  • Conduct platform, tool and process assessments to evaluate existing security controls, identify weaknesses and make recommendations and process improvements.
  • Assess security threats and risks in order to define and implement appropriate architectural security models.
  • Provide guidance to junior security staff and perform deep technical research on the security impacts of new technology.
  • Drive efforts and provide material support to business teams by planning and designing architectural solutions in support of the Verizon PACT security strategy.
  • Ensure that PACT security risk controls, mitigations and approach are aligned with Verizon security standards, IT and business goals.
  • Oversee the review of major/key projects and initiatives by communicating goals and objectives. Areas of focus such as but not limited to greenfield, brownfield product onboarding and creation of Public Sector solutions.
  • Provide guidance to ensure security policy, compliance requirements, and best-practices are implemented across the PACT project portfolio.
  • Lead weekly stand ups and review/analyze weekly status reports for actionable items.
  • Lead cross-functional team meetings with IT and business partners to ensure architecture project alignment.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings to provide feedback on key initiatives to PACT leadership. Provide direction and prioritization of team assignments.
  • Provide regular progress reports for Senior/C-Level management.
  • Conduct performance reviews, help team members execute career development plans and interview and hire staff as necessary.
  • Build relationships and synergies across business areas to promote security awareness, and improve security adoption to ensure the protection of Verizon corporate and customer information.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Masters degree in information technology, cyber security or related field.
  • Experience in leading security, compliance, privacy and risk management projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Security Services in AWS such as IAM, KMS, VPC, Security Groups, AWS Inspector, Guard Duty and SCPs.
  • Expertise in 4 or more of the 10 security epics across Data Protection, Compliance Validation, Vulnerability Analysis, Network Security, Infrastructure Security, CICD Security, Identity and Access Management, Logging and Monitoring, Incident Response, Data and Analytics, and Resiliency.
  • One of more of the following certifications:,AWS Certified Solutions Architect – professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CSA Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), CISSP, CISM.
  • Expert level of knowledge with Cloud technologies; preferably AWS.
  • Experience with IT Security Frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001, PCI, DSS.
  • Hands-on experience with Management Services such as Cloudwatch, Lambda and AWS Config.
  • Hands-on experience of Infrastructure and Platform Services such as EC2, RDS.
  • Knowledge and Hands on Skills with Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, and Container Security.
  • Third party ecosystem tools for compliance and security such as Auto-Remediation/ Compliance (Cloud Custodian), PRISMA, Dome 9, TrendMicro, and Container Security Tools.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and thorough problem solving skills.
  • Experience translating business and project goals into technical security deliverables.
