What you’ll be doing...

As a Verizon Professional ServicesTechnical Delivery Architect - Wi-Fi (WLAN), you will be providing both strategic guidance and overall technical integration responsibility for Professional Service (PS) engagements. You will fill the role as trusted advisor with key clients, as well as support new clients and new opportunities, including developing new professional service offerings. The role also includes preparing statements of work for complex engagements and review of statements of work and final deliverableseless.

You will provide thought leadership to Verizon and its customers, guiding each into the future by being the foremost expert in leveraging the established and emerging Wi-Fi technologies (i.e. Wi-Fi / WLAN, 5G and Cellular technologies, IoT) to solve real- world business problems.

You will work with customers tomeshactivities between people, Wi-Fi technology, and thearchitectures necessary to implement strategies that allow customers to innovate, drive operational and technical efficiencies, improve technical performance, and deliver a more responsive Wi-Finetwork environment.

In addition, you will work closely with sales engineers, consultants, project managers, and executive management in development of overall Wi-Fi network strategy. You will be a thought leader in delivery functions and will lead a team of highly technical and experienced Engineers focused on delivering professional services within the Verizon services portfolio focused on Wi-Fi and wired network consulting, design, and deployment.

  • Provide technical leadership in design and administration decisions for infrastructure and systems.
  • Provide support to Verizon product development and PS offering teams.
  • Develop and provide a clear, accurate and comprehensive Scope of Work documents and designs that can be used as input to customer proposals and/or RFP responses and provide necessary detail and expectations to ensure an effective hand-off to the delivery team.
  • Translate customer requirements into an executable Statement of Work, leveraging Third-Party vendors, contractors, as well as internal resources.
  • Provide leadership in design and execution of product agnostic professional service engagements.
  • Provide technical sales support for advanced network solutions to all sales groups and customer verticals.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and leads effort to design and deliver automated solutions to reduce or eliminate manual methods.
  • Develop standardized service offerings, based on well-defined assumptions and clearly articulated deliverables, in order to maximize value obtained from presales scoping resources and scale the business.
  • Work independently and be accountable for project or program results.
  • Develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Lead transformational projects that are interconnected to other parts of the business.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in professional services providing customer-facing Wi-Fi consulting.
  • Experience in Wi-Fi 802.11 and RF that includes Wireless LAN Controllers, WLAN management and WLAN security solutions.
  • Experience with architecture, design, and development of end to end Wi-Fi WLAN solutions (Aruba, Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Extreme Networks, Juniper/MIst).
  • Experience in RF designs, RF propagation modeling and Wi-Fi RF survey tools such as Ekahau & AirMagnet.
  • Proven track record in leading Wi-Fi RF, WLAN and network architecture design, integration, and deployment.
  • Must have multiple technical Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi tool certifications from the below list:
  • Ekahau, AirMagnet, Cisco Wireless (CCNA, CCIE), Cisco Meraki, Extreme Networks (ECS, EDA), Aruba (ACSA, ACMP, ACDX, ACCA, ACCP), Juniper Mist (JNIC), CWNP or CMNA / CMNO
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • B.S. with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) OR eight or more years of military service within a network communications specialty.
  • MBA.
  • Ten of more years of experience within wireless network engineering and other data communications fields.
  • Ten or more years of experience in consulting/professional services, with client contact at senior levels and demonstrated business development skills.
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, NFV, 5G, and MEC, with a focus on Enterprise use cases.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.)
  • Possess strong communications skills written/verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Methodical and organized; ability to manage multiple opportunities, projects, and partners concurrently.
  • Strong background in Wireless/Mobility/Cellular networks and devices, protocols and operating systems.
  • Experience leading projects through the entire project lifecycle.
  • Experience designing and deploying Wi-Fi and network systems for large sports and entertainment venues.
  • Experience in technical design and deployment with network physical layer 1 (Closet build. Implementation work in telecommunications closet. Cabling systems. Cable and fiber patching. Rack and stack of network equipment. Closet labeling - cables and network devices. Circuits and circuit termination).
