What you’ll be doing...

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Tax organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, enhance systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. We’re finding new ways to add value and provide strategic support. At Verizon, you can become a catalyst for change. You’ll become involved in, but not limited to, preparing complex federal and state tax returns while utilizing the latest technologies that are available.

  • Prepare federal, state and local corporate and partnership income and franchise tax returns for legal entities on a pro-forma separate, combined, and/or consolidated basis in CorpTax, including calculating Schedule M-3 and Schedule M book-to-tax adjustments.
  • Prepare U.S. Federal, state and local tax estimates and tax return extensions.
  • Identify and gather necessary information and documentation to substantiate and support the tax return and tax provision processes.
  • Prepare workpaper documentation and calculations in support of significant tax items or book-to-tax adjustments, as needed.
  • Prepare supporting working papers and ensure proper documentation is obtained and maintained to adequately support the information included on the tax returns upon audit.
  • Respond to routine state tax notices.
  • Perform account analyses related to tax accounting, tax forecasting, and tax minimization strategies.
  • Perform tax research and analysis and prepare memorandums in support of findings.
  • Support special project assignments, such as acquisitions, dispositions, tax audits, etc., as necessary.
  • Provide support to tax managers and develop and maintain a relationship with other tax department professionals.
  • Explore opportunities for process improvement using the latest data analytic tools.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or one or more years of work experience.
  • One or more years of hands-on corporate tax compliance experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Corptax, CCH, Tableau, and Alteryx.
  • CPA certification or advanced degree in Accounting/Tax.
  • Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills with the ability to be a dynamic team player.
  • Effective time management, multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly.
