What you’ll be doing...

As a member of the 5G Disruption MVP team, you’ll be focused on building MVP products and platforms that accelerate building our net new businesses for Verizon. You will be solving deep technical problems and building innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment working with smart and passionate team members. Your responsibilities will be to work with our architects, engineers, and the rest of the MVP team to develop the kernel of a product that will become our next major new business. You will also be evaluating third party partner integration capabilities and provide feedback on product development estimations.

  • Invent novel approaches and figure out what to do when ready-made processes or techniques are inadequate.
  • Find patterns between disparate, seemingly unrelated sources anticipating innovative ways to build and position new business ideas.
  • Adeptly layer together experimentation with other research, testing, and metrics to reveal strengths and flaws in the current strategy and devise a clear path forward.
  • Support our technical leads and have a hands-on build of our new product initiatives.
  • Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
  • Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  • Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.
  • Effectively research and benchmark technology against other competing systems in the industry.
  • Contribute intellectual property through patents.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Four or more years of software engineering experience, including JavaScript and/or related languages.
  • Software polyglot experience.
  • Significant experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems (caching, messaging, asynchronicity, ETL, etc).
  • Significant experience with database technologies (Postgres, MySql, etc) including SQL
  • Familiar with functional programming paradigms.
  • Experience designing, building and managing Internet-scale APIs.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Graphics, both 2D & 3D and Vector & Raster.
  • Significant experience with NoSQL technologies.
  • Significant experience in networking, multi-threaded applications, inter-process communication, and complex software development.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative Agile team.
  • Experience in GIS technologies including GeoJSON, mapping, navigation algorithms.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace change and work in a fast paced, iterative environment.
