What you’ll be doing...

We’re building a team of innovative futurist technology thinkers who can design complex multi-layered systems at the 50,000 level, but also who have the engineering experience to gather and set requirements for NBI’s engineering organizations. You will be the primary architect and day-to-day leader working with the master architect of the 5GD Team.

  • Recommends long-term architecture decisions and technical debt tradeoffs.
  • Works with peers across the organization to explore best practices, avoid unnecessary duplication of effort and optimize code re-use.
  • Coordinates architectures across systems with peers to maximize reuse, interoperability, and knowledge sharing.
  • Analyzes industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the technology roadmap and system architectures are a competitive advantage.
  • Periodically participates in technology assessments including “build vs. buy”, patent viability, and acquisition due diligence.
  • Develops and maintains the architectural roadmap for NBI’s cross-functional capabilities.
  • Leads the design of systems to ensure the technology roadmap is aligned with the business goals while minimizing technical debt.
  • Demonstrates technical thought leadership through creation of intellectual property including patent filings.
  • Uses superior communication skills to communicate and coalesce regarding the architecture and technology roadmap to all levels of the organization.
  • Contributes to the formation of long term architectural decisions and technical trade-offs.
  • Provides technical leadership for complex projects and initiatives including activities that require collaboration with other (internal and external) technical groups.

What we’re looking for...

You enjoy focusing on hard problems, thinking about how to solve short-term product roadmap requirements - and how it fits into the long-term strategic vision. You love finding solutions that get buy-in from stakeholders without dictating implementation. You have experience integrating business strategy with technical implementation to keep tech-debt low but without missing deadlines. You love working with and talking to people, motivating our partners, and employees to think strategically. You enjoy the concept of having the perfect balance of leadership from above as well as enough individual ownership to define how your team will operate. You take pride in your work and you believe, truly believe, that the success for the team is more important than your individual success.
You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in engineering.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, and on-prem service offering and deployments.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative Agile team.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace change and work in a fast paced, iterative environment
  • Significant experience with AI, ML, and CV technologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Significant experience designing, building and managing Internet-scale APIs.
  • Experience with edge computing paradigms.
  • Four or more years of leadership experience.
  • Management experience within an agile environment essential.
  • Software polyglot experience.
