What you’ll be doing...

Senior Technical Manager – IoT Cloud Platform Development

As a senior technical manager for the cloud platform development team you will lead the development of Verizon’s next generation SmartCities/5G/MEC IoT platforms. You will have the opportunity to build a highly scalable intelligent IoT platform using the latest cloud technologies such as AWS lambda, microservices, IoT, big data analytics, data lake. You will build products and services that will have a huge impact on how Smart Cities, IoT/5G/MEC IoT platforms will be built in the future.


  • Lead the local and remote cloud development teams who are developing core platform features. These core features include IoT ingestion layer, device management, alarm/event management, user accounts, security, inventory management.
  • Hands-on participation in architecture and design of the platform.
  • Coordinate and ensure product delivery on schedule and high quality using Agile development process.
  • Architecture, design and development of a multi-tenant and big data ingestion and processing platform using the latest AWS technologies such as AWS IoT, Kinesis, Kafka, Lambda, Dynamodb, API Gateway, Cognito, EMR/Spark, and Aurora, SageMaker.
  • Hands-on experience in developing big data cloud data platforms and AI/ML data analytics pipeline using TensorFlow, Pytorch, or Keras frameworks.
  • Partner with other teams and development leaders to ensure overall architecture and design are aligned with cloud development best practices.
  • Work closely with development teams working on vertical applications that use the platform core services.
  • Develop platform core services that makes vertical application development faster and consistent with the overall design of the entire ecosystem.
  • Work with product managers and stakeholders to set strategic direction for the platform.
  • Work with 3rd party partners and cities to build solutions and integrate with the core platform services.
  • Develop API and support 3rd party development ecosystem for partners to develop applications on top of the platform.

What we’re looking for...


  • 5+ years of technical management position developing cloud based applications and services.
  • 15+ Years of industry experience with a degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • In depth hands-on AWS knowledge is a must. Ability to make meaningfultechnicaland business trade-offswith extensive knowledge of data engineering tools, technologies and approaches
  • Minimum of 3 years in-depth experience of AWS, Azure, or GCP technologies
  • Minimum of 3 years developing multi-tenant and high bandwidth telemetry ingestion platform using public cloud environment.
  • Proven track record of managing a development team and delivering products on time using Agile.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with Big Data, NoSQL, SQL databases (e.g. Cassandra, Aurora, DynamoDB, HDFS, Redshift etc)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with Big Data ingestion and integration tool experience (Kafka/Kinesis/Hadoop/Spark/Flume etc).
