What you’ll be doing...

As a OneTalk Messaging Architect, you will be responsible for architecting, defining, and deploying on the OneTalk Business Messaging product strategy and roadmap. You will look to design enhanced features that will improve the product and increase the competitive advantage that Verizon OneTalk has over other products. You will steer technical work towards the product vision. This will also include opportunities to interface with other Verizon messaging products such as Message Archive and EMAG. This role will partner closely with the business product owner to understand business needs and translate the business needs into technical requirements. Your role will encompass all aspects of the end-to-end product development life cycle from concept formulation to service deployment.

  • Product design, concept formulation, and roadmap strategy.
  • User story development.
  • Creation of technical requirements based on business needs.
  • Messaging product call flows as well as any provisioning implementation required in IT.
  • Vendor selection and management.
  • Testing and troubleshooting.
  • Cross-functional coordination across multiple VZ organizations.
  • Ownership of SOWs and budget management.
  • Maintain the product roadmap and timelines.
  • Create / maintain product design documentation, network documentation, policies, and configuration information.
  • Serve as the technical product SME to internal teams and potential customers, working with Solutions Engineering as needed.
  • Collaborate with product vendors and the industry to be aware of, and drive, future technology requirements.

What we’re looking for...

This position is a technical role and needs someone who can understand Marketing User Stories, turn them into technical requirements and design an architecture to meet the MMP. Some of the application servers are developed in-house and it is expected that you have the ability to pick up new concepts and technology rapidly. You have the communications skills of a motivated and independent self-starter who can document, as well as talk to, the design. You will be expected to act as an “owner” of the product and take a personal interest in all aspects of its success.
You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Technical product management experience during which you have driven PaaS or SaaS products from concept to launch and revenue generation. Ideally, with both B2B and B2C segments from small business to enterprise.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Experience with 3rd-party application integration, authentication, and authorization using programmatic APIs.
  • Working knowledge of web technologies, mobile platforms, and RESTful APIs.
  • Technical knowledge of the wireless network infrastructure and familiarity with wireless communication solutions, application traffic flows, and platforms.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, oral and written communications skills.
  • A strong balance of business acumen, technical insight, and user-centered design skills to make the right tradeoffs for optimizing costs, quality, and business value while standing up for your customers’ needs.
  • Enterprise messaging experience.
  • Experience with assessing and leading current Verizon technologies, leading large integration projects, or launching a new product from the ground up.
  • Master’s degree and/or Industry Certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Linux, Openstack, Microsoft, CISSP, etc).
  • Experience with application / infrastructure virtualization within a service provider network.
