What you’ll be doing...

This position will be supporting a custom Verizon built secure high performance wide area network for a US Government program. This position will require the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret level clearance.

This position will be a Senior level Network Performance Expert that will assist in the design and operation of a customer facing portal to report various statistics and metrics from the network using protocol-based methods including SNMPv3, ICMP/IP SLA, and Cisco’s NetFlow/IPFIX. Working with customer and Verizon engineers to design and implement complex solutions to measure and improve network performance. Responsible for identifying various technical issues and developing mitigation solutions. Participating in various technical evaluations and lab testing. Responsible for various performance reporting deliverables to the customer.

Things you will be doing:

  • Gathering complex customer requirements.
  • Web application development
  • Various coding and scripting responsibilities
  • Design, implement and support solutions involving, but not limited to, WAN, LAN, Data Analytics, Security, solutions.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and communicate network capacity and performance with the objective of driving improvements to customer's network.
  • Responsible for maintaining customer network documentation such as solution design document, record of change, and network diagrams.
  • Provide 4th level incident support for customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
  • Implementing the solution viability documented by the Architecture and test team.
  • Execution and development of Method of Procedure (MOP) and file creation, review and implementation.
  • Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation/drawings.
  • Lead the engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
  • Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms
  • Writing whitepapers and delivering presentations in response to customer requirements/interest in new technologies/products in support of customer networks.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Networking background including expert level knowledge of protocols, technologies, OSI Model
  • Knowledge of large customer network, design and implementation.
  • Experience with Web Development and coding.
  • Experience with writing scripts to perform various tasks.
  • Experience with writing MOPS and SOW for large scale system installation and changes
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government sponsored security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required by business needs.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Ten or more years of experience in designing and implementing complex WAN solutions Proficient at Lab Testing.
  • Eight or more years of experience involving large, complex data networks.
  • Expert knowledge of IP Networking including Virtual Private Cloud, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load-balancing, and Firewalls.
  • Expert knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark, NetScout, Fluke, T-Berd and other Fiber test tools.
  • Extensive Routing & Switching configuration experience with Cisco platforms
  • Extensive experience with the TCP/IP protocol suite aligning with OSI model
  • Hands on experience with IPv6 (Addressing, Subnetting, Troubleshooting).
  • Experience working with data networking gear and troubleshooting data networking problems involving: TCP/IP, BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, SIP, and other advanced LAN/WAN technologies and concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of software architecture, programming languages, virtualization, and the networking layers.
  • Ability to manage technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions along with the ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
  • Expertise with ITU standards related to network performance (Latency, throughput, Jitter, loss, etc.)
